I haven t been back to Boll Weevil in about 4 years and decided to try the Thurs. Fish Fry....again. My experience way back then was of overly greasy, soggy fish, so I was hoping this time would be better. I asked about the onion rings because I d heard they were great and was told for .75 cents they d substitute those for the frys. So..........out comes a few very thin pieces of fish (a bit over-fried) and the onion rings (WAY over-fried to the point of being hard as a rock). Sorry, is this a new recipe called blackened onion rings?
I casually point this out to the friendly waitress who agrees that yep, they look like they ve been cooked too long but doesn t offer to replace them or get me a new batch. Ended up eating some of the husbands frys and leaving the majority of the burnt rings. What a waste of .75 cents. Doesn t look like Boll Weevil has improved much though the service is friendly. Sorry guys, I gave you another chance but you blew it. Cheers is right across the street and the food is WAY better..................and their rings are homemade!
