This trendy La Jolla joint is the spot for nightlife and premium cuisine. The bar is popular among thirty-something professionals. Expect to find large crowds, particularly on weekends. Many customers visit this place for one main culinary reason: steak. Utilizing the famous Al Farber's Char-Crust Spices, this restaurant offers a bevy of tantalizing steak specialties. Try the hometown-favorite Junior Seau Steak. And, for those customers who cannot get enough of the homemade barbeque sauce, purchase a bottle to take home. They also serve great hamburgers and sandwiches. See website for full menu.
I love the beach. I make it out to the shores or PB about twice a week for some time in the water and in the sun. This restaurant is in my top three favorites in San Diego for some easy food and a beer.
They have a huge menu so I can always get what I want. It's a real traditional looking place, they got good music and most of their staff is pretty great. They hire a lot of college kids but some have been there for as long as I can remember. I mostly go in the early evenings when Mario, AK or Nicole are bartending. Mario is their old school bar tender, AK is a little crazy, Nicole is ahem...curvy? The place is always busy for dinner and serves the food up pretty quick, try the thin crust Pizza or a BYOB (Build Your Own Burger) if you want some of their best stuff.
I brought my family there over the holiday weekend on Sunday or Monday and had my first bad experience in probably 50 visits. My waitress, Johanna, was just not around enough and wasn't very nice when she was there. I would give the place a 5 if the service this last time was better. Its a great place regardless, I will be a regular for LIFE!!!
Very Crowded on a Tuesday nite 3/25/08 (Spring Break).....1/2 hour wait. Party of seven and everyone loved the food. I had a Reuben Sandwich that was excellent. The Pizza & Burgers were a big hit by a few in our Party. Don't know the Server's name, but was a Young Man and he was very friendly and attentive. Not a Fancy place, a relaxed fun atmosphere.
Was in visiting - had a terrible meal, fish tacos - fish over cooked - rice dry or had pieces that weren't cooked enough. Told waiter - spoke to manager - gave me 20% off when I didn't eat most of the meal, thought they should have taken it off the check - I would have paid for the salad.
Wouldn't go back!
I've been a Spot customer for many years, and the food has always been terrific. Last night we had the pulled pork wrap and the jambalaya (quite the extremes). Both meals were outstanding, and I was pleased with the service. It's a really fun place, too. The only downer at The Spot is when the it's crowded and loud, which makes it difficult to have a conversation across the dinner table.
I have been to The Spot several dozen times. I take a lot of my business cutomers there because it reminds me of Cheers from TV, a very un assuming place where people aren't snobby and rude. I don't know what the official description is talking about the Junior Seau Steak or the Take-Home sauce, I've never seen it... but two reviewers were rigt the Pizza, Ribs, and Burgers... the best you'll find in La Jolla. It also helps that I can feed myself and 3 friends for less than $100, especially in La Jolla and 2 blocks from teh beach!!! Great place, Keep it up...
we were seated for dinner... waited between 5-10 mins... watched a few servers walk by... got up and walked out... I hear the burgers are great and the service isn't always that bad... but it's just a warning.
