Mission Coffee Cup Cafe
The decor is virtually non-existent and the atmosphere is ultra-casual, yet this place is arguably the most crowded cafe in all of La Jolla. It is not on the beaten path of La Jolla's main streets, making it a well-kept secret among locals who flock here daily. Expect a busy and noisy atmosphere, compliments of the full-view kitchen. Breakfast options include Blackberry Pancakes and Mission French Toast. With sandwiches and other lunch options available, this makes for an excellent meeting spot or just a spot to meet new people.
My friend Brandie and I were looking for a new place to eat breakfast. We have these days that we get together to discuss the current affairs, i.e. relationships, and girly stuff. We came across The Coffee Cup. I have eaten there every Wednesday or Thursday since the beginning. The staff is AWESOME! Why am I even calling them staff? My friends are AWESOME. The food is absolutely to die for. Try the breakfast enchiladas, it's one of my favorites. The Papas Loco is a regular to my stomach also, with all fresh and never over cooked ingredients. It's the kind of place that you feel so welcomed. All of the food on the menu is filling, but not enough that you feel like you have stuffed yourself...in a bad way, It's all healthy for you, right down to their power breakfast with egg whites, black beans and brown rice with their own house salsa. (I love their salsa) They use the freshest of ingredients. The coffee is definitely up there too. They brew it perfectly every time. My friend Brandie orders the latte EVERY TIME! I love this place so very much. I wish they had more places like this in San Diego. The people, the food, and the atmosphere is definitely worth the drive to La Jolla, and definitely worth my five stars.
We too are flying to San Diego from Texas next weekend to visit, and one of the main reasons is to hit up our favorite restaurants and soak up the atmosphere. The Coffee Cup is at the top of our list of favorite breakfast places - its the BEST! Try the french toast - the best I've ever had! The hot chocolate is excellent too....
I used to live at windnsea beach and would go here often. I found an internet southwest funfare online and flew down to San Diego to have breakfast here, I wish I was kidding I spent the day with friends and flew back to San Francisco that night,
I lived within walking distance from this restaunt and I frequented it often. I still manage to commute from Point Loma every month to eat there on Saturdays/Sundays. That shall tell you something of the experience. In my opinion there are not too many places in the Village that are good values for brunch/breakfast. The Mission Cup is one of them. The price is reasonable and the food is outstanding. I have eaten at 1000 restaurants in San Diego area. I only take my friends/acquaintences to a few. Every time I recommend a restaurant to my affiliates, they can expect great food and atmosphere. That is because that is all I have ever showed them. People tease me as being a food snob, but they also know I know where to get some good grub. The negative points are as follows: Refilling the water and getting drink on time can be a problem. Also, I got a parking ticket right on the corner of the street (1000 Wall St.) even though I was there less than an hour last week. I even had a view of my car. The San Diego parking enforcement are not concerned necessary with right and wrong but rather with numbers. Usually they tag your car first with powder, but they didn't with me. Oh well...
