I went to Sushi N Joy with my boyfriend based on the reviews we had read, and all of our expectations were surpassed. The sushi was absolutely amazing, which was a pleasant surprise considering the low prices. Our waitress was very friendly and didn't seem put off at all when she had to come back a third time before she could take our order, as we couldn't decide which sushi rolls to order. The decor was far from amazing, but the quality and price of the food more than made up for it. I highly recommend this restaurant, just be sure not to go when they are closed! (which is from 2:30pm-5:00pm.)
i'm not much of a sushi eater but i do love california rolls, which they sell at $3 for 8 pieces. quiet atmosphere and service time is the expected wait. the only bad thing is that it is always closed from 2:30-5:00 and open only from about 5-9 on sundays. i can never go eat there when i want to, so i suggest calling before planning to eat there or else you'll be highly disappointed
My first impression of this place, was that it was another strip mall sushi joint, with high prices and skimpy portions... but the truth is, once I tried the place and what I discovered has kept me going back ever since.
The owners husband and wife are the only people I ever see working there.. they are Japanese, and they are no BS. The decor is nothing special, and might kind of remind you of a 2nd rate Chinese food place on first glance.. but if you're a Salmon Nigiri, Ahi or any other sort of Nigiri lover - this is the place for you. I've had peices of Nigiri that were the same size as 6 peices at your average place (not an exagerration), at less or about the same price.
The owner cares about his ingredients, and you can even see him sampling any peice of fish that he just pulled out of the ice box to make sure that i's good.
I've heard nothing but good things about this from the other people in the restaurant too.....
So if you love sushi, and aren't scared off by a unfancy environment, or a roll that isn't perfectly symetrical.. then I think you might love this place as much as my girlfriend and I do.
They close between 2 and 5pm for lunch but are open before and after that (I think, you should call).
The ambience is pretty plain, but it's the place to eat great sushi, and just relax - don't worry about being fancy or quiet.. just enjoy yourself, that's the message I get.
I gave the service one less mark, because sometimes their waiters are overly busy and it takes a little longer to get your drink sometimes, but nothing significant, the sushi bar service would be 5 stars for sure.
This was my very first time eating at a Sushi restaurant. It was the best! Thank you daughter for taking me. I especially loved a dish called the Heart attack...was absolutely delicious!! The service was terrific, also!! The rest of the dishes I tasted were very good also. I recommend this restaurant to all first time Sushi tryers..smile.
