Nothing to really write home about. Food is so-so, the service is good--if you go there often and the employees know you. Otherwise, you may get subpar service while people next to you are chatting it up with your server.
Quality of food varies. Sometimes it's better, sometimes it's not. It's pricey for what you get: average portions, average taste, but about $10 a plate. If you want higher quality food for less money, I'd go to La Cocina out on San Vicente and Gunstage.
Have frequented this establishment for years. THE BEST chili rellenos in town. The service is awesome. It is a restaurant where your kids can relax and feel welcome. Doesn't get recognized as the best Mexican restaurant in Ramona!!
One of the Best in town, love the warehouse look with firepit. every time we have been in there the same smilling lady helps us always frendly, the only thing that they could improve is that it is so big inside, they need some background music playing, this would go a long ways for a wonderful Mexican atmosphere. We will Definitely be back to check on that background music.
A frequent visitor for a number of years. Its a friendly family restaurant. Food is always pretty consistant. Simple and not heavy like other more traditional Mexican Restaurants. Fire pit is great during the cold Ramona winters. Not particularly expensive. Always has a nice crowd creating atmosphere. Just a nice comfortable home town place to eat at.
Whilst the food was OK, the service was awful. We arrived on a Sunday lunch with a large group (16) for lunch, and this was a major problem for them. There was plenty of seating space, so I don't know what they were whining about. The service was extremely SLOW and the kids meals arrived LAST! duh! All the kids were MISERABLE, and everyone in the party shared food off their dishes as they arrived to try and keep the peace. When the kids meals finally arrived, they basically were wasted, now that the kids had eaten something.
Their attitude was sulky and uncooperative. One would have expected them to be happy about 16 guests - A nice fat bill - but no, they whined about their regular Sunday customers...that never showed up.
Be warned, give this place a miss.
A liitle more expensive than I would like to pay, but the service was good.
A large open fire pit and vaulted ceiling (I think this was an old warehouse) makes for this place's ambiance. Not a place to go in Ramona during 100+ degree days of August or September. The oversized fans are noisy and are blowing hot air.
The beer was well chilled and water was served with lemon.
Salsa with the chips had a nice corriander flavor that melded with the chips. We got had to have a second round of the salsa.
Beans were good and rice was better. With the salsa on top made a bitchen flavor man. The Carnitas were overcooked and dry. The Carne Asada needed a more vegetable flavor, but was decent enough. Personally, if the outside coating is like this on their steaks, I will order that next time.
The Blue-Haired crowd is catching onto this place. The fussy ones sitting next to me did not issue one complaint about their food or the service. Remarkable!
I would not advise going to this place in the hot days of summer, but in the cold days of winter. The food is nothing to write home about.
We love this place and they get a lot of our business. The serivce is always good. The food is always good. They have more combination plates that I thought possible. The fire pit is nice on chilly days, and the warm smiles of the staff always make us feel welcome. Sometimes there is live music. Last time we were in there we heard a harpist playing romantic songs. It really varies, though.
