George's Ocean Terrace, La Jolla

Incredible view of the Pacific while enjoying a beautifully presented dish of food. Their fish tacos are delicious!

The food was really good but I left hungry. Nowhere to park either. I feel it's over-rated for the prices they serve up. Gary

My husband and I have adored George's throughout the years we lived in SoCal. Warm, friendly, extremely hospitable, excellent food choices were all attributes that came to mind and it was our favorite place to go, especially for special occasions. We especially loved their tasting menus. Top notch from the hostess to the bus staff! After a stint of being out of the area, knowing that George's had gone through a major renovation in an upscale way, I couldn't wait to go back and went with a friend this time. Sorry to say that the experience left me cold. Everything had changed. No longer was it warm and inviting, but instead sophisticated over the top for my taste at least. The restaurant itself transformed into something glaring and annoying. The food I have to say was just good, but not great, and service was no longer top notch. Everything tasted fresh, but was prepared with far too much froufrou. Sometimes when you have a winning recipe, don't muck it up! I may try again when I'm in town, but it's no longer a destination stop for me.

I loved George's. Their food was awesome. The boyfriend and I reserved dinner on the patio right by the ocean. It was so romantic. They had heaters to stay warm and candles lite. I am not a big fan of ceasar salad or mussells but they were very delicious. Everything was just so great. I would definitely recommend going here. Our bill was under $100 and so worth going again.

Went in for a drink on a Saturday afternoon. Sat at the bar, Ben the bartender was on it...great martini's, funny and extremely accomodating. Will definitely stop in on my next trip!

After confirming my reservation 3 hours before getting there, we were told that none of the table with views are avialable for us even though 2 were empty. The cocktails were served wine was poured, that was about all that happend. When the food arrived, everything had pork in it. Becuase i could not eat it, i told them to take it away from then on, the waiter hardly appeared at teh table, the water that she served to us did not get refilled, and the manager did not even come over and apologise. Horrible experience overall.

The view from the ocean terrace was fantastic. However it is very crowded and loud at that level, so if you are wanting a more intimate dining experience it may be better inside. We went for lunch during the day and were able to get a table within 30 minutes. I am not a big seafood person so I had the chicken and broccoli soup, which was delicious and different from any soup I'd had before. The Prospect punch was rather tasty as well. The staff was as attentive as they could be (considering they were packed). They even brought up several different sizes of Georges t-shirts when I expressed an interest in buying one, and took a picture of us before we left. (Yes, I am a tourist!)

We ate at George's on a Fri evening. Our service was awful. Two other tables seated after us (same waiter) were approached before us for drink orders and the bread delivery, which we had to ask for (twice). The Baby Green Salad tasted like freshly cut grass and was returned to the kitchen. The salmon was excellent. The peanut butter chocolate pie was also very good, but not very big to share. The skies were a murky gray and they blended into a murkey looking ocean, but the view would have been spectacular for a sunset if we had been able to see it.
