Description

A favorite among locals and businesspeople, this informal shop offers an opportunity to drink coffee and read the newspaper with minimal interruptions. Naturally, cheese varieties are highlighted on the menu, yet customers also have a wide selection of sandwiches and salads available. Try the Smoked Salmon served with onions, capers and cream cheese. Other favorites include Red-Skin Potato Salad and Dijon chicken salad. To top off the meal, fresh-baked muffins and cookies are difficult to resist. Although open early, they do not offer breakfast items.

This great little spot in the heart of La Jolla Shores is worth the hassle of finding a parking spot at peak season. Why? Two words: Lamb Sandwich!

Cheese Shop is the best! Great sandwiches, all sorts of drinks and chips and candy and imported foods! Sometimes you do have to wait in line but only for about 10 minutes max and it is 100% totally worth it!

Best sandwiches in San Diego

I spent all four years of college addicted to this place, and I miss it terribly now that I've moved away. My personal favorite is the Evergreen, with the pork loin sandwich as a close second. And the oatmeal cookie is a must. The staff is wonderful, so friendly and welcoming. This is a true local treasure.

Not worth it!

I had my first and hopefully last encounter with the cheese shop today. It looked like it was going to be really great, but the sandwiches were very bland and the ladies who worked there were not friendly. It is very disappointing when you pay $9 for a sandwich and I could have made a better one myself. They do have unique imported items, but it is NOT worth the price. I will not go there again.

My sandwich was tasy, but the service wasn't great: slow and undfriendly when I went. There are better delis in La Jolla. I would try another before returning to the Cheese Shop.

The cheese shop has great sandwiches but you have to wait in line alot. If you don't mind the wait then the Cheese Shop is the best lunch stop for sandwiches.

This place has absolutely the best sandwiches sandwiches I have ever had. I highly reccomend the new yorker. Great friendly service.This place is a must if your in San Diego.

Best Granola!!!!

So we only went to The Cheese Shop for breakfast, but we went there almost every day and have been CRAVING more of their granola ever since. It is $6.50 for a big bowl of homemade granola with milk or yogurt, and a small bowl of fresh fruit. The yummiest healthy way to start your day ever! If I would have thought about it I would have asked for the recipe or bought a ton to take home. It was SO GOOD! I want to go back to San Diego just for the granola!

A Great Hole-in-the-Wall Deli

This place is great. Seriously, the best sandwiches you'll ever have. One cool part about the Shop is that there are pictures of people who have traveled all over the world (even underwater and into space) who have taken a Cheese Shop Frisbee and took the picture with the Frisbee. Totally cool. Overall, a great place to get lunch, but get there early, it gets busy during the lunch rush.

Always a good experience!

I have been going to this place for years and have always been satisfied. The sandwiches are huge, so for the price you can get a few meals out of it. It feels like a little beach deli, and it's only a short walk to sit at La Jolla Shores and enjoy.
