Not only is the atmosphere friendly and energetic the food is outstanding. No where else can you go for a home cooked meal outside your home [I guess if you can even get that at home!]. The service is great and the waitresses are hilarious. There is a trio of sisters, a funny blonde and a nice brunette, the boys in back do a great job on cooking and the boss is always willing to help, cooking in back, waiting tables, whatever needed the group really help each other out. The weekends get busy so they have extra help, usually two busgirls [who are somehow related to one of the waitresses] and a cashier who seems to be a bit scarce when they need her. They make you feel at home and it’s a place to go where there a lot of regulars and when you go back often enough they remember what you eat, what you drink and what extra stuff to bring you.
Their menu selection gives good variety. Breakfast, fresh corned beef, the best omelets with the freshest of ingredients, sweetest pancakes, homemade waffles cinnamon rolls. Okay the cinnamon rolls are a must, you can substitute a cinnamon roll at no extra charge instead of toast and if you haven’t had one of their cinnamon rolls you really haven’t lived. They will also substitute fruit, cottage cheese, and tomatoes instead of hash browns. They bake their own biscuits and cook up fresh turkeys and roast beef. The lunch menu is your typical sandwiches, hamburgers and salads but the difference with here is the freshness and quality of food you are getting. The best corned beef sandwich in all of San Diego!
I have been going to Champions since it opened and I’ve always had great experiences, otherwise I wouldn’t go back at least once a week if not more. Great food, great service, and great time. But go early because they get busy and are only open from 6-2 Monday through Friday, Saturdays 6-1 and Sundays are closed!
