Me and my family have been going to the Rongbrach for 25 years. It's a family favorite for us. We've tried all the other places. And they just don't have the great food and potions that the Rongbranch has. I hope the Rong branch will be around for more years to come.
We went there for dinner last weekend. It was out first time to Julian and we choose this place because it was off the main road, the sign said they had steaks, burgers and seafood, and there was no wait (it was getting cold and dark outside). Well since there was no wait, we should have known better. Our food was terrible!! We ordered the sampler platter and everything was just drowned in a fried coating. I know it was a breaded sampler, but seriously. We could barely find or taste the pickles or onion underneath the globs of breading. Then our entrees.... I ordered the bison burger rare, which came out medium, dry, and unseasoned, and the fries were a soggy mess. My bf ordered the steak sandwich which he barely even ate half of, and he s a 5 9, 215 man who loves to eat. All the food was so boring, bland, and tasteless, I truly felt guilty putting those calories into my body. Never again will we go there. And not to mention it s dark and creepy in there. Probably didn t help that they sat us in the corner.
I used to live in Julian, but will no longer give them my business. I've observed that they serve alcoholic beverages WELL past the point that they should have stopped. They've also served alcohol to minors...in fact in Nov. of 06 2 firefighters lost their lives after their group (which included minors) was served alcohol at this establishment. I drink, but I won't give this place my business.
My familly and myself ate at the Rongbranch last weekend. We had very good food and great service. Much better than we expected, because the restaurant was very busy. The food came quickly. Our server was very polite.
The chili was wonderful. The apple pie is the best. We will be Back soon.
RONGBRANCH IS THE RONG CHOICE!
Our trip to Julian was great - except for dinner at the Rongbranch Restaurant.
My turkey dinner turned out to be nothing but sandwich meat on a pile of stove-top, smothered in congealed canned gravy. The mashed potatoes might have been OK if they weren't cold, and the cranberry sauce never happened.
My companion's steak combo was overcooked beyond recognition. She struggled to cut through the blackened outside to find the inside the color and texture of cardboard. Her shrimp was so dried out that if she'd have dropped one, it might have shattered!
The icing on the cake was when she went to the bathroom, where she found towels stuffed under the door, and a floater in the toilet!
Needless to say, we didn't stay for dinner! She paid the bill - which I wouldn't have done, and we booked it out of there! We found a lovely little Italian restaurant just off Main Street.
Food is so flavorful. They give you an obscene amount of food! But it is delicious. The people are great, they really pay attention. It's a little expensive, this is a great place to hit at dinner time! And there's even a saloon connected to it.
My Husband and I ate dinner at the Rongbranch last night. The food was great. I had the special which was pot roast it was fantastic. My husband had a buffalo burger and he enjoyed it, but after having a bite of my pot roast he was sorry he had not ordered the same.
Our waitress Dolores was very good.We split a piece of there mountain apple berry pie. The pie was fantastic. We will be back. I hope they have the pot roast every Thursda
I've been to this restaurant twice. The first time was great, good food and good service. The second time was a bad experience. The food and hot beverages were served cold and the waitress has a bad attitude and was very rude and sarcastic. I have never been to a restaurant where the waitress had to announce that the tip was not included when she handed over the bill. (Like as if she deserved one anyway.) She still got her tip but I will not be going there again.
I called to try to place a take out order for the following day. The phone just rang and rang, I had to call several times. When it was answered the lady was extremely rude, when I told her that I had been trying to get through she said “Yeah well we’re real busy”. The owner came on and was just as rude!! She didn’t care that I felt that I had been spoken to in a nasty manor.
I will never set foot in this place. Good luck with that attitude in this economy!!
