Billac2s extensive experience, starting 43 years ago, has brought him full circle in the restaurant business. Working for a large chain, starting as a waiter while in college, he took pride in the demands and challenges of the business, while enjoying the social aspect as well. Working within the same restaurant chain for 25 years, equipped him with knowledge on all levels of the business. It took him from San Diego to Arizona 34 years ago where he met and married the love of his life. He continued in the restaurant business yet always longing to have his own. In 1984 Bill and Vicki purchased a building in Tempe Arizona and transformed it into a seafood restaurant complete with exhibition cooking.
This place is low grade, low quality food; with a BIG price tag!! The portions are super small and the salads are just disgusting!!!!!!! EWWWWWWWWWWWWW........ I cant believe people in fallbrook support people like this!
Three couples dined at the restaurant on 3/6/2010. All three couples ate from the 2 for $39 menu. There were several entrees available on this menu. Two people had salmon, one grilled and one blackened. Two people had ribs, one person had medallions of beef and one had prime rib. All six meals were excellent. The 2 for $39 included the choice of garden salad or soup(corn chowder on this night) and all were excellent. a dessert to split was also included and all three couples asked that they be boxed for take home. This was cheerfully done with styrofoam containers and in a sack. Service was also excellent. All-in-all a delightful experience.
Upon arriving, we were cheerfully seated by a very nice hostess. Our waiter came soon after to get our drink orders and lunch orders. I ordered the Fresh Italian Omelette (tomato, basil, spinach, mozzarella), and my dad ordered the Garden Center Cafe salad (Mixed Greens, Bacon, Feta Cheese, Golden Raisins, Pine Nuts, and Sweet Onion Vinaigrette Dressing). My omelette was good, except for that it was sitting in the excess tomato juice from the cooked tomatoes in the omelette. It was not a dry omelette. My dad's salad was EXCELLENT. It was delicious. I will order it next time I go.
I am giving this 4 stars because of the runny omelette, but everything was great!
My husband made reservations here for my birthday. We arrived a little before 7 pm--our reserved time and were promptly ignored for 30 minutes. Two couples were waiting when we got there and they were told that there was no more Garden Salad which is promonately featured on there menu and web site.
We tried to tell the woman that seated that group that we had reservations and she cut us off and told us that she would be right back. After another 20 minutes, we gave up and left. We walked 2 blocks north and went to the Rio Rico which was the best decision that we made last night. I will never attempt to eat at the Garden Center Cafe again. I will happily continue to dine at Rio Rico which made my day. See my review on the Rio Rico experience.
Garden Center Cafe was the highlight of an otherwise disappointing drive. My wife and I were stationed at Camp Pendleton in 1982 and drove to Fallbrook with our young sons. We recalled a quaint town with a rustic feel. You think! On our way back to highway 76 we passed this restaurant and stopped in. It totally turned our day around. The ambiance, light from the garden areas, fountain, menu - everything was exquisite. Our tall handsome waiter was very professional and helped us choose from the excellent menu. The veggie burrito and Garden Center Salad were a perfect combination. The prices are quite reasonable. And the desserts are all homemade. The carrot cake was to die for, fresh, cool and delicious. The owner was on site and a very outgoing and friendly man. This was a 100% positive experience. We loved this place and recommend it without any reservation whatsoever. Try it. It will make the drive worth the effort. Aloha
