I cannot comment on their sushi or their sashimi, it may very well be very good. My friends and I all ordered Beef Teriyaki. Well, it was called Beef (?) teriyaki(?). The entire meal other than the orange slice on the plate was awful. We paid our bill and left the restaurant with over 80% of the food still on the plates. I would not only NOT recommend this place but would advise people who are looking for good Japanese food to avoid this restaurant.
We have been going to Akita once a week for several years. We've tried countless other places, but keep coming back to Akita because it is the best. James, the sushi chef, is fabulous! The fish is always very fresh. Try the Dynamite - its not on the menu, so you'll have to ask. Hanna, the hostess, is always so welcoming and quick to please. She gives fast and friendly service.
If you like Dirty Sock Water Soup, go to Akita and be charged for Bad Food. Empty Restaurant should have tipped me off. New Staff. Poor Quality Food. Hostess was not friendly & seemed to have expectations of complaints. Our order, chicken terriyaki bento **, sushi roll ***, sukiyaki was disgusting. Hostess insisted it was made fresh that day and that ALL the other (two) tables in the restaurant weren't complaining about the beef with black dry edges. (that was her answer, not, let me fix it or get you something else. i stomached 5 bites just to see if it was maybe me. told her in a very nice way that it was not agreeable. Still charged us for the dish. Too bad, they used to be such a great place too. Wont go back until i see new mgmt sign. Not a rash person, i waited 5 days to write this review.
Still a good place but not great. They changed all the cooks and now is just average food. Still good service but nothing out of the ordinary
As you can see from the other reviews this place is great, but I just want to add that the Volcanos are my favorite and every person I took to Akita LOVE it too. Also the service is great I hope they never change.
I just went after not visiting for awhile and the food was mostly still great. Unfortunately, the California Rolls, which were my favorite food there, have gone downhill as they are now using ground seafood meat for the meat part of it. Other than that, wonderful!
