I've been eating at Pernicanos in El Cajon since I was a kid, but last night I had the worst experience ever with a restaurant and will never go back....I ordered the Eggpland Parmesan which I have eaten many times and has always been great, last night it was completely awful it was clearly leftover from god knows when and I couldnt even cut through the eggplant, I didn't ask for them to not charge me for it but they didnt even offer. I do not recommend eating there it has certianly gone down hill and I am very disappointed!
I eat there frequently in 88-91 and had the opportunity to travel back to San Diego again this year 10'. Althougth the place has changed a little over all these years, the food is good and the staff is friendly. I would recommend to others. The lasagna special is great!!!
Food is good but prices are too high. A large pepperoni pizza costs over $16 with tax. That's over $2 per slice!
If the owner was not so greedy on the prices, more people would come. I won't be back for that exact reason.
I live in the southeast US now and rarely get to visit, which is a shame, since they have great pizza, italian food, family friendly, and the owner is a great guy. I am biased, however, since I am related! Go and try them yourself; you won't be disappointed!

Pernicanos has been around forever and the pizza has not changed. It is exactly as delicious as it was 20 years ago. Best pizza in So CA by far. A million times better than the fast food pizza chains, and inexpensive. I love the floppy pizza slices...the way it should be.
