It appears that they don't believe in cleaning their equipment...EVER. Every type of bagel has particles from other flavored bagels stuck into them, as though they don't even attempt to clean out their equipment before starting a new batch of dough. Our sourdough bagels had poppy seeds in them and areas that tasted like garlic. The sunflower bagels had small areas that tasted like sourdough and had pieces of onion in them. The plain bagels also had poppy seeds and what looked like it could either be tiny burned flakes of somthing, or insect legs. I'm not sure.
I'm not from New York or anything, but as far as San Diego bagels go these are some of the best I've had (and I've had most). Minimal embience from their strip mall location on El Camino Real but eating there is an option. Cramped parking lot can be a pain. They make sandwiches and other foods as well but I've only had the bagels. Highly recommended.
