The eggplant parmesan is better than my own. The canneloni, with a white sauce, makes you want a cigarette when it is over (even though you do not smoke). The chicken picatta is light and tender with a perfect balance of herbs, lemon and capers. Jeff, who runs the floor is terrific--genial and entertaining.
Nice little Italian joint on Grand Avenue...: I'd give Joe's 3 1/2 stars if I could, but I can't as Yahoo won't let me! It's an above average Italian restaurant where the crew makes you feel more than welcome. My gnocci was just good, the salad was just good, and the soup was below average. The service was terrific. Will I go to Joe's again? More than likely is my answer to you my friend. I did try it again...and it was great. A very fun place to dine!
My husband, son, and I have been to Joe's on three different occassions; needless to say...WE ARE IMPRESSED. We love the family owned business with Angelina knowing everything we want, to Joe making a special dish for my husband. This place is for true Italian lovers who have excellent taste. Joe, Anglenia thank you for making us feel at home.
My husband and I ate there this evening and neither of us could recall a worse dining experience in all our lives. Not one redeeming thing about this place. The service is terrible; the food, when it finally arrived, was absolutely horrible--all of it. We were totally baffled by the number of people waiting to eat there; I read the other reviews and I swear these people who like this restaurant must have eaten somewhere else. We had a gift certificate so thankfully our meal was free. I could provide more details about the food, but I can't stand to think about it anymore.
If you want a romantic and quaint atmosphere, true Italian food, Joe's Italian Restaurant on Grand Ave., Escondido is it! I've eaten at Joe's for the 20+ years that I've lived in Escondido and by far the best restaurant in town...actually, any town! I'm going tonight!!
Where to begin well we walked into the restaurant and my wife and I were immediately claustrophobic. The restaurant was cluttered. The host sat us and the server was nowhere to be found for ten minutes. The food was not at all good. You are better off going to olive garden. The garlic bread was good but the Alfredo, tortellini and even the salad was atrocious. Very slow service I’m talking 2 hours from beginning to end.. After our terrible meal we wanted to leave so we put the card at the edge of the table. After the server walked by for the fourth time we yelled to her check please. My meal was $38.73 and I left the server $1.27 tip. She is lucky she even got that. When I got home I checked my account. The server charged my card $46.47 instead of $40.00 that I put on the receipt which is a 20% tip exactly. She fraudulently charged my card. I’m glad I kept a copy. I called the manager and he said it would be taken care of. Still nothing has happened.I would never go back there also i would never recommend this place to anyone.
My boyfriend and I love this place. The food is great, the soup is good, I don't know what he's talking about either. I noticed it changes a bit, but nothing bad. The atmosphere is warm and homey feeling and the service is great. We've turned a few people on to Joe's and they all agree it's one of the best Italian places they've been too. Only downfall, they are closed Sundays and Mondays. Also, not a big fan of their Cannolis, they make them with amaretto. But, if you don't mind driving somewhere else for dessert, Carmela's, which is off in San Marcos have great Cannolis. But not great food.
