Benihana - Carlsbad
Prepare for a dining experience unlike any other. Watch as your personal chef performs the ancient art of Teppanyaki. Listen as razor-sharp blades slice through tender steak and juicy chicken. Take in the aroma of sizzling shrimp, lobster and savory vegetables. Or visit our sushi bar, where your sushi chef will prepare fresh nigiri, sashimi and specialty rolls, all with the same flair that made Benihana a legend in Japanese cuisine.
Okay, I gave it 2 stars because the food is really good. I wish they would give you more but that isn't a big deal. Here is my problem with Benihana; their seating policy. They want to fill up each cook's table. So you can never just eat with your party. They will do whatever they need to do make sure these tables are full. That might mean you have to wait for other people to arrive. We went here the other night with a party of seven and had to wait 20 minutes. Not because they were busy or needed a table/grill to open. But because we needed to wait for another couple to arrive.
This policy might be necessary in this type of restaurant but I just find it rude!
Went recently. The sushi at the bar was gorgeous and tasty. The food at the tables not so much, but then you go for the show more than the food, so keep that in mind. The noodles were especially heinous.
Disgusting! Took my family, including my 80 yr old parents who had never been to Benihana's, for a special night out. Waited almost an hour to be seated (with reservations). After being seated I am feeling like something is crawling in my hair. I ask my son sitting next to me if he can see anything. He was shocked! A huge glob of dark grease had fallen and was seeping through my hair! Then another huge glob falls from the vent on the table right in front of me!! They moved our party and paid the bill but promptly sat another party at the same table! I will not go there again.
We went to Benihanas on the 18th of February, the food was excellent, and very reasonable and the portions are huge. We would recommend anyone in this area to go there. I love the part where you are sitting with other couples lots of good conversation, but you are close enough to your significant other to have private conversations too. The entertainment is wonderful...the whole place is alive and so much fun
