My girlfriend and I had dinner at this location on Sunday night. I would say the view is great and most of the food was also very good except the fried rice. The service was very disappointing. We did'nt have water or rolls until we had been seated after 15 minutes and our waitress wasn't that good. I would not go back to this location
Excellent location to catch the ocean and sunset while dining in San Diego. Ask for a window table or ask to sit out on the patio. Becareful of high tide, the waves can sometimes crash over the rocks and onto your table. * Learned that one first hand* Food is good and service is friendly. The view is what its all about though.
I enjoy taking friends to the Chart House in Cardiff By the Sea. From the moment we walk in the door the staff treats us like welcome guests. The food, the service and the ambiance make this a place to which we look forward to returning, again and again. Their menu is first rate and the seafood dishes outstanding.
We were looking forward to having a great Sunday Brunch for my wife's birthday. Everything used to be close to perfect in the past. We were part of a group of family members this time. Had made reservations and eagerly arrived at 11:25AM just before official opening time. There were three parties ahead of us. We were kept waiting at least ten minutes, while the lone hostess began escorting people to their tables. The servers and manager were waiting for their assigned guests to be seated, instead of assisting the hostess.
After we were shown to our table, it took another ten minutes before the waiter came, but only for the 'drink order'. It took an additional fiteen minutes before coffee and drinks appeared, preceded by very tasty muffins in a basket, carefully counted, so that each of us was able to just have one.
Another fifteen minutes went by before the waiter appeared to take our order. All together, not including the initial waiting time, it took one hour and fifteen minutes before our food arrived. My own preference was a 'prime rib sandwich'. No potatoes were on the entire menu, except for french fries. I asked for a substitution and the choice was either vegetables or rice. The meat was dark instead of at least pink and looked as if it was shredded and full of fat. Upon asking, I was informed that it was left over from the previous day. When the waiter asked if everything was okay, I pointed out the sad looking meat. He offered to have me make another selection, which I thanked him for and selected a fish entre. There were no complaints from the rest of our party regarding their food, which made me happy. Also, my fish selection was excellent, but almost twice the cost of my previous meat. I did bring this matter to the attention of the manager, who apologized, but did not bother to make any adjustment in our bill. I was charged the higher amount of my alternate selection and the cost of the meat entre was subtracted. I do hope that this Charthouse management would learn how to extend good will to their customers and remember when this restaurant used to be a cut above. In conclusion, it is recommended to visit the Beach House, next door, for a better Sunday Brunch, with variety of pastries and champagne included and better quality food. The vew of the ocean is the best and it's equal at either restaurant.
