French Pastries Cafe, Carlsbad

This bakery is the best!!!!!! The service is amazing!!! The new guy John was so helpful when we went in! He had a huge line but managed it so well and maintained a smile the whole time! I hope he is in there the next time we go. We ordered a few pastries and they were all delicious, many people dont know but the man who own the place is straight from France and knows his stuff! Delicious food and excellent service:)

Their service is not perfect, but their cakes are REALLY good and well priced. Actually they are better than other well known French cafes, and they charge less. At this time of the year I recommend their King's cake. It's the best you can find in San Diego county. And better than many I've had in France. The only reason why I don't give them 5 stars is because of the varying service quality. However service is always respectful. They don't overdo it, which I like and some people don't like...

I have been going to the French Cafe for about ten years, it is a tradition for us to buy the birhtday cakes every single year for our two daughters,family and friends. We love their cakes, and to us it is worth the drive from Fallbrook to Carlsbad!! Strawberries always fresh, highly recommend. :)

OMG!! I've been to Paris and this place has better pastries than most bakeries in Paris!! Everything there is just delicous!!

This is a true French Bakery. I have eaten there for years. it is family owned and not a franchise cookie cutter store. The owners are approachable and very nice. The owner is actually french, go figure....you ought to try it....

We ordered a Birthday cake three days in advance. When my husband went to pick up the cake it took them 15 minutes to find it. This is not the first time we have had problems with thier lack of service. Last Easter, we purchased a cake and their ATM/credit machine was down and they do NOT take checks. How many of us carry cash anymore. what a nightmare.We thought we would give them one more try. Not after this recent fiasco. This is what their excuse was: you place an order under your name and if the writing on the cake has a different name then cake gets misfiled...Are you kidding me??????????? Nope thanks we are finished with this place. When they charge what they do and come up with lame excuses, I will be going somewhere else.

French Pastry cakes and food are great. I was in Montreal couple of weeks ago. That city is famous for the French cosine, but I wasn't able to find there anything better then in Carlsbad French Cafe. When I was back from my 10 days trip to Canada, guess what I've done first? I visited Carlsbad French cafe and spent bunch of money there enjoying the great French food and pastry. Also whenever I visit my friends in San Francisco, they always ask me to deliver them the strawberry cake from Carlsbad French cafe; they are quite crazy about it. Me too!!!! Small remark regarding cafe stuff, they don't have a lot of people working there for a long time and I guess due to it you can get sometimes a negative receiving and attendance from some waitresses. Sometimes you need to remind waitress about your order, sometimes you have to wait bit longer. But some of waitresses just great, one new waitress after I ordered couple of time the same stuff for my breakfast, week later asked me: as usual? I asked: What? She repeated all my last week order. It was quite nice experience, it so great to have breakfast at place where employees do care about customers. You will feel great for the rest of your day and will come back. Later I heard as more customers were amazed by her attitude and ability to remember cafe's customer’s needs and take great care about them. But unfortunately not 100% of waitresses are so great. I was having lunch with my co-worker and after she left I went to grab one more cup of coffee, so I will be able to finish my lunch and pastry. It was almost empty cafe; just two tables were taken and no more customers. I was bit upset when on my way back to my table discovered that waitress started to clean up my table. When I asked her why she is doing so, she didn’t apologized and later was trying to accuse me in strange things. Actually the same waitress served me on my way back from Canada on April 18 and she was quite gloomy and unpleasant to communicate. It was just kind of funny reminder for me that day about Canada, where some waitress give you a negative receiving when they realize that you are from America. In general I would recommend Carlsbad French café as the place with the best French food and pastry in San Diego area! Go and enjoy, it worst any penny you spent there. Almost forgot, later I discover that that good waitress name is Rachel, I won’t mention the last one name J Regards, Vladi B.
