We were visiting from Las Vegas & San Francisco and have been to a lot of Asian seafood buffets around the country. We had dinner on a Sunday night and the place was packed with mostly large tables of families celebrating birthdays. The restaurant did a great job of seating smaller tables as soon as possible and keeping the larger tables waiting until a large table became available.
We were shown to our table by the restaurant manager, who was very courteous and extremely accommodating. Food-wise, this place exceeded our expectations! It was quite a surprise! The food tastes better than Todai, but the sushi selection is not as extensive. Everything is delicious and very fresh, especially the sauteed fish filet. They keep the portions small in the steam tables so that it's always fresh and not sitting around getting overcooked or dried out like at other buffets. We really loved the authentic Asian desserts like warm milk with "snow" wood ear fungus. And the apple-pears with mandarin oranges! WOW!
My dad noticed that they have crab legs, but we found that the tray was of course, empty. The manager came up to us and asked if he could help us find something. We asked if they had any crab legs left. He said that they should be refilling the tray soon and that we should just wait a few more minutes. So we went to get another item while we were waiting. When I turned around, I noticed that 3 people were standing over the empty crab legs tray and as soon as the server came out to refill the tray, they snatched every last crab leg until the tray was empty! It's unbelievable how greedy and rude people are when it comes to food. It's also those same people who waste food! The manager came up to us and asked if we got any of the crab legs. When I told him what had happened, he told us to just wait a moment and he would be right back. He rushed into the kitchen and within minutes, came back out with a server with a small tray of crab legs just for us! He personally handed the pair of tongs to my dad! It was awesome!
The service was as good as expected. I mean, do you really expect the staff to stand and chat with you when everyone there is in a feeding frenzy? (No) They promptly came to remove dishes. They asked if we needed a refill of tea. They brought extra napkins. For an Asian seafood buffet, that's good service! But the manager was the one who really made our experience great.
If you're look for ambiance, this place isn't for you. But if you want really good food and a decent buffet price, this is the place!
The "very good" rating is for the food and service!
We'll definitely be back!
