I remember eating griders here when I was a young boy in the early seventies. The grinders were the best in the valley then and they still are today. A new owner took over a while back and took the place in a little different direction for a while but he quickly came back to the roots of the place. The grinders he makes now are actually better than before!!! I drive from Rancho Cucamonga to here just to have his grinders. As most of his other reviews state, his pastrami is out of this world and I would put it up against Subway, Quizno's or even The Hat any day of the week!
I've eaten at the Grinder Haven in Ontario, on and off since 1975. In all the years that I have gone there I have never ordered anything but the pastrami grinder. I have no doubt that all their sandwiches are good but when I do go there it's for the pastrami.
This is not a deli pastrami nor is it a typical steamed pastrami on a soft or steamed roll. The taste and the texture of the meat is unique and the bread has just the right amount of crustiness with out being overly hard. The inside of the bread is perfect.
It's worth the drive.
