When I go out to eat I dont expect much service at an asian type restaurant. I expect to get a good meal and sometimes a good deal. This restaurant has the worse service ever and really bad atmosphere. The food is good but its nothing special. It is comparable to most Thai style noodle houses in the San Gabriel Valley. The live band also bother me as well. The band have there equipment turned way too loud for a dining atmosphere. It was so loud I raised my voice to talk to the person next to me. Maybe thats why the service is so bad, the servers can never hear anything over the band hahahah
If eating is to be a repasse from the turmoil of work, the place is hardly the setting for satisfying dining. Where dishes were mistakenly brought to us, the server did not oblige us with a correction. I'm sorry if the business is in the hands of unskill management. There is some indication that it can made a go of it, if only they can polish up the courtesies.
Love this place! Seems like many people don't like the service, but stop comparing it with leading American Resturaunts. This place is great if your looking for the right things. Just look at how packed it is all the time. Bring your friends, enjoy the bar, make friends with the people that work there (e.g.ask for Phil), grub, enjoy the band and watch sports. Oh, don't forget to get some Singha Beer and sticky rice with beef jercky! It is the best.
not necessarily the best in service but the food is really good and very inexpensive, very good portions and very good quality. and they stay open late too. me and my coworkers are about 2 miles from this place and we go to banana bay several times a week.
yes the place is loud and the service is mediocre but its because that's how busy they are and how popular they are as a restaurant. if they had no business of course the servers would be more attentive for their tips...
so for those of you who claim that its like all other thai places...then u haven't had authentic food because if you order common dishes like pad thai and pad se ew then of course it would all taste the same but if you order dishes that are out of the ordinary guess what the food is good and taste better than most americanized places and also in this area, there's not that many thai places that are so popular as banana bay!
Its a normal thai restaurant the service is pretty bad though, and they have holes in the seats of the booths, they usually have live music on the weekends. Its a good restaurant to go to when you want fried rice.
