I have been Eating at this delicious restaruant for about 9 years. The service may take a while but its is worth the wait when they are bussy expect to wait but if there not the service is awesome taking in consideration that the restaurant is packed! hats off to the chef she is awesome!!
I agree the service can be slow, but the ambiance and food make it worth the wait. This morning I am heading to El Monte to celebrate my birthday with 20 great friends and family for breakfast. Why breakfast, because it's delicious and this family owned restaurant does an amazing job cater to us, even if we have to wait 15 minutes. Try the cafe with cinnamon and chilaqueles (spelling wrong) verdes! Best in LA without a doubt.
This is the absolutely best Mexican Restaurant that I can recommend. Complaints about the service? Must be you, because the restaurant is family owned and they have always been great with me and my family.
I went there with a friend of mine for lunch. Bad mistake! it took the waitress 15 minutes to take our order? not only that she was really rude! the food is great specially their Rasberry Tea. It is a nice restaurant not that expensive the portions are huge! However, they need improvement on customer service. The waitress are really rude and they do not care for the customers & they are very negative If I was the owner I will spend a bit more time at the bussiness to observe customer service since its horrible....I am never eating threre again and if I do I rather call it in & eat it at home!
I was not sure if I was in a Mexican restaurant or a Cuban restaurant because the music played while we were there was all Cuban music. Nothing wrong with that just a point I like to make. When it came time to order, we asked what the house specialty was. The waiter looked at us like if no one had ever asked her that question before and said “Well! Everything is good” with an attitude we had to insist several times to finally get a suggestion. We asked the waiter if she could bring us some chips while we waited for our food, she replied “You have to get them your self at the corner over there” The waiters and the restaurant attendants had a very negative behavior and it gave us the impression like they don’t belong there or that they are not treated very well by the owners and they get even in the way they can. The first plate was prepared fairly fast and about 8 to 9 minutes later my plate came. Thru all the time we eat there not once did the waiter came to see if we needed anything. The food was good and fresh. This restaurant would excel with same cookers and different waiters and attendants. If you care for the food and not how you are treated then this place has good food. If you are trying to impress your date or a romantic dinner go somewhere else. I gave it two starts only because the food was good.
I've been going to Ajos Y Cebollas for the past 2 years, and yes the food is great! BUT the service gets worse each time I go....they need to hire more help and work on their customer service. I would recommed you go when you have time and patience on your hands.
Been going here since it opened. Food very good but has been consistently getting worse in customer service. I will not go back again. I asked for whipped cream on my chamurrado and my friend and I were charged $7.00 extra. Do not change the menu, they charge at least $3-$5 dollars more for changes-it says that on the menu. Even if you want no beans and extra rice. Service was terrible, only two waitreess', were rude and had an attitude with each request. I asked tom speak to the person in charge and was never allowed. Restauraunt has potential but service is in the garbage can. Someone needs to talk to the owner about what customer sewrvice is. I felt like I was being done a favor when I was served, and like an orphan when I asked for more water.
Excellent food! Service is slow because it is so packed and that can be understandable. While you wait you can go and get all you can eat chips and salsa which is self serve. Their freshly made salsa and chips are just terrific to quench your hunger while you wait or as a good apetizer. You will never expect such great food from a little place like this in this sort of industrial/warehouse location.
Wonderful atmosphere, very festive like being at grandma's kitchen. The menu selections are wonderfully presented, plentyful, and sabroso...delicious. Perfect for introducing lovedones and friends to excellent mexican cuisine that is not oridnary authentic. In particular, the chilaquiles and enchiladas (Red or Green), Sopa de fideo, and chicken mole. Don Jesus, the owner and staff are very personable. Must give a visit.
