Started going to Lotus 25 to 30 years ago but have not been there for sometime untill tonight. Still great food good price Decor still dated but if your into retro you will love it. It's still one chinese restaurant that bring's the food out in dishies and you serve your self. Love it.
I eat out at Chinese Restaurant quite often. Living in Southern California, I've frequented restaurants from China Town to Monterey Park. The Lotus Garden offers Dim Sum in the morning through lunch. It compares well with the Chinese Restaurant in China Town and Monterey Park. Good variety, quick and friendly service (which is a problem in a number of restaurants in China Town). Their dinner menu is excellent.
Years ago, my uncle used to travel from Downtown Los Angeles to Covina to eat at the Lotus Garden. I never understood why with all of the excellent restaurants closer to him. I took my family there one evening a few years ago, and we've been going there ever since.
If you're on the east side of town (near Pomona), drop by this gem. It's located right off the 10 FWY exit, north of Grand Avenue. If you feel that Panda Express is the best chinese food you've ever eaten, you probably don't know chinese food. It may not be the absolute best chinese food I've ever eaten, but for the money, it is the best value in the area. The food is excellent, and consistent. The service is quick and efficent. The staff is friendly.
This restaurant has been in the same location for over 20 years and it is the best I will ever have. I have been to many a place and this place has it beat hands down. Oh and there are two kinds of chow mein it can be ordered with or without noodles. With a fam of picky eaters the grown ups can have delicious Chinese food and the kids can have a cheeseburger and fries or a grill cheese sandwich. It's great!
I was invited here by friends and had doubts due to the appearance (old). Once the food arrived and we started eating...OMG, the food was delicious!!
I will definitely come back all the way from Ontario.
What a little gem! This place has the best Chinese food around. The owners are such nice people, and always have a good attitude. The menu choices are vast, and everything I've tried has been amazing. The food is fresh, cheaply priced, and fast. Not sure why Robert C. is complaining, as getting a lot of meat and vegetables instead of those cheap noodles considering the low price you're paying is nothing to complain about. I guess I have to go with the majority and say that this is a wonderful place, and one of my favorite eating spots. Also it would be good to note the wonderfully priced Lunch specials, which are available on weekdays(between 11am and 3pm if I remember correctly). You can order from 17 or 18 different dishes, pay between $5-$8 a plate, and still have some left over to take home! A highly recommended place that has been in business for years, and you know a place that has been in business that long must be well established and have a loyal following of customers.
I hate to burst everyones bubbles but I went there yesterday based on everyones great reviews and people let me tell you either your standards are very low or you don't know what good Chinese food is. I will and i mean i will never go back again. I had chow mein and it was all bean sprouts and meat. There was no noodles in it. This is the first time in my life I have had someone call chow mein without putting any noodles in them. I had Fried Shrimp and the batter must have weighed a pound each with a baby shrimp somewhere inside. The egg rolls seemed as thou they were deep fried twice and the sweet and sour pork was not very fresh. I brought dinner for my mother and boy we were so disappointed. My mom said next time for me to go to Panda Inn. This was by far the worse Chinese food i have ever eaten. I would not recommend this restaurant to my worse friend.
If your in the mood for excellent chinese food and wonderful service, then this is the place to be. With a warm welcoming atmoshpere, the service is fast and polite. The food is excellent and always alot to go home with. So make sure to order smalle portions or you'll have food for a week.
I think this is the BEST chinese restaurant. The food is scrumptious and is quite cheap. I always go there to see the nice waiters and eat the delicious food. Some of the waiters can be great friends! They try to as friendly as they can and make new friends!
