Guadalajara Grill is a fun and frolic Mexican eatery that has a bright decor. The ambiance is perfectly set by the use of royal colors. The cuisine served is authentic Mexican along with tequila which is traditionally paired with the food. Go for the lunch buffet on weekdays or on Sunday when they also host the mariachi show. Try their hand-made tortillas, waffles, steaks, crab legs, enchiladas, fajitas and a lot more. Enjoy some cocktails and more drinks with your meal. Their services also include catering and hosting private events. Check website for details.
The first time was great, I love the Mariachi and they even have a dj. But,, if you don't keep drinking they will ask you for the table. I went with family mom, aunt, causins and friends and because we did not want to keep drinking, of course because we drive; we were asked for the table. SAD, I really loved that place. : (
We've been there before and we like to sit close to the Mariachi. Many of the times we've been there, they've been pretty good. Compared to La fonda De los Camperos in Los Angeles they are fairly good but nothing compares to La Fonda!
We like the main singer, when it comes to smileying, he means business he don't mess around! He smiles throughout his perfformance. I seen him at the Gas Station pumping gas smileying his a## off LMAO!
Overall they are good.
I ordered the steak and lobster. The steak was bordering on rubbery, the lobster tasted as if it had been siting in the kitchen for hours. The taste, well there was none. The food was tasteless. They pack as many people as they can. It makes you feel like a sardine. The servers seem over worked but they try to give you service.
This place is way too overated!! The food is not authentic mexican food, the prices are ridiculously high for the quality of the food, we waited over 45 minutes for them to get our order all they kept on bringing us was chips after chips when we told the waiter we were ready to order he said he would be right back and didnt return until 20 minutes later, when we finally got our food it was cold and the rice was watery and nasty, the food was gross. The best part is the Mariachi Show. Make sure to check your bill because they add things to it thinking you are drinking and not going to pay attention. Dont go with a large party the waiter WILL get confused and you will wait a long time to get your drinks and food! Overpriced and Gross!!!
We asked for our drinks (just a Corona and water) several times...but the server, who stood there playing w/ a lighter, said it was someone else' job...not only did our drinks not brought, our food was given to us before our drinks. The food is definitely over-rated and over-priced. My enchiladas were cold...not just lukewarm but cold like they've been sitting out for awhile. We think it's the environment and ambience that people go for (it was decent) but the food is not great at all. The Green Burrito is even better than this joint.
Lunch is buffet style with items avaliable off the menu. Dinner music is loads of fun. We go in groups from work because the service is so fast that we can all eat have fun and get back to work on time. The food is fresh and always good. My favorite is the soup and the fajatias, and everything else, I can never make up my mind! but I love it and we always have a good time.
This is not your run-of-the-mill Mexican joint. It's a bit more upscale. The menu is not limited to tacos and burritos (it's only about 1/3 of their menu). They also have a variety of chicken dishes, steaks, etc, all served with rice, beans and/or veggies, of course. I had the cornish chicken. The servings were huge and it tasted fine, though I wasn't totally blown away. I did truly enjoy the dessert, drinks, and live music though. For dessert, I tried their arroz con leche (aka rice pudding). Their rice pudding is not like the Kozy Shack you find at the grocery store. The consistency is actually similar to bread pudding, and they smothered it w/ whipped cream on top. It was actually pretty good. Though I wished I ordered the fried ice cream instead. Their margaritas are real good too. The Mariachi show was an added bonus. So if you ever find yourself in the San Gabriel Valley/West Covina area, you should check this place out.
