So I eat out in a lot of places in Burbank - this place I have been to maybe a handful of times. Recently my wife and I decided to take a walk to this restaurant which is only about a mile or so from home. It’s on Burbank Blvd, in Burbank. Though there is much neon on the outside, I am happy to say that’s about it with neon. The inside is cute, unfortunately I didn’t take a pic but it’s deco is as if you were outside in a street in some Mexican village with each booth having terra cotta tile roof - very cool (if guy) cute (if chick). The hostess was both very friendly and pleasant as was the wait staff. The waiter checked on us at the appropriate times refilling my soda almost as if he knew I wanted more… great waiter - very attentive. Anyway - I ordered the camarones (shrimp) rancheros and my wife had the appetizer sampler - and I gotta say - we we both very happy with our meals and of course picked of each others plates as couples do.
The food was great - the restaurant was full and had a great atmosphere. This is definitely one that I need to put on my list to frequent often. If I had a rating I’d give it 645 out of 700, hey it’s my rating system - I can do as I please…. Seriously though - give this place a shot - it’s great!
For Mexican food in California it seems to be about average. I really prefer Texmex! :-P Here are my eating experiences at this restaurant. The pork burrito had a nauseating stinch, the fajitas were average, and the Thursday chicken special was good one week and smelled like fish the next. The interior is dark and gloomy like a lot of restaurants built during this era in California.
When you're at the Bahia Caporales Restaurant in Burbank, it's easy to forget that you are in Burbank and not in Mexico! The food, ambiance, music, and prices are great! You can get a half of a lobster tail for less than $15.00. And, they have great Margaritas!
