place SUCKS, way over price on food and drinks, terrible service was good in the 50, 60, years but its a dump

I've been going to The Smoke House for 25 years. It's a wonderful place to relax, especially on Friday & Saturday nights with Marv Robinson and/or Irene Cathaway and their bands providing some of the best entertainment in the area. It would be great if the owners, (Spencers), realized that without the entetainment, the place is half empty. This is one of the only venues left in LA for smooth jazz and rhythm and blues. The food is excellent and there's room to dance. There are two real "Hollywood joints," left: Musso & Franks, and The Smoke House. Come on out and see for yourselves.

It's a time travel ride to fine dining circa 1962, and the food is actually quite good. Forget about your cholesterol and order a hunk o'meat. And the garlic cheese bread, of course, which is deservedly legendary.

Old time favorite of the old time movie set. Good old menu too.Lots of memories here. And good sigtings of George Clooney. Long bar and funny stage for offbeat music some nights.

Feels like any old nite club from the 50s - my favorite New Years Eve restaurant - keep hoping George Clooney will come in as he is said to hang out there.

Always smokin"

Keep napkins in your lap for the drips from the famous bread, which you won't be able to see in the dim light of the bar, as you sip a nicely-made martini, with the overflow in a carafe. Good food, too, and live music and "industry folks" wandering in from the adjacent studios. Classic and good.

Great garlic bread!!!

It's seen better days, and lots of them. But the location near the studios is terrific and sometimes you don't mind a truly retro dining experience even if the surroundings badly need a facelift and the service is perfunctory. Decent steaks and seafood if you don't mind a slightly gaudy yet dingy setting and a menu that reminds you of grandpa.
