Valentine's Day 2012
I made reservations on line after reviewing the dinner menu, we were looking forward to the evening.
I received a call from Melinda confirming our reservation. When we arrived we were immediately seated at our table, the place was very busy, our waiter hands us a special menu for the night with 4 main dish selections with the price of $82.00 per person!
We were not happy since we had planned on ordering from the regular menu. My husband did like any of the items we were offered. I saw two couples get up and walk out after reviewing the menu. If it wasn't valentines I told my husband I would walk out. How embarrassing is it to bring a date there and not expect to pay $82.00 per person. What is worse Bistro Garden at Coldwater NEVER advertised a special menu for the evening, what a RIP OFF..
The evening only got worse, our salads came out on time but no food was coming from the kitchen after 50 minutes we were served and the presentation was terrible the food was below average not worth the price. I tried to get our waiter's attention several times for a drink but he was so busy running around, and he never gave us his name. He finally comes to our table and asked oh have you had your dessert yet? Of course the answer was no!
Bottom line they crammed in as many customers as possible. That was our second and last time for BISTRO GARDEN!!
I have continued to enjoy my meals and the ambiance at this well established restaurant that has the most beautful room in the San Fernando Valley, if not Los Angeles. The quality and value paid for the food is excellent and the service is immpecable. This is a special place that evokes memories of what the better dinner houses and supper clubs in Hollywood and Beverly Hills used to be like. Its a family owned and operated business and when you walk through the door--you are treated like family. They have a private room for meetings, parties, etc and there is always live music. In fact, on Friday nights you can hear George Ferrick at the piano from 6pm - 11pm, formerly of Chasen's and still currently heard at the Polo Lounge in Beverly Hills, and the bar is always full of patrons who enjoy the good music and a full bar with every fine wine, port, etc that you could want. For dinner I suggest the Prawns in a light mustard sauce, the filet mignon, and of course the souffle is the best in the city. They do a really nice Lobster Bisque and have several good salads to select from. Valet parking is always available and your evening will be memorable any night of the week at the Bistro Garden. By the way, they are open for lunch with a very nice mixed menu and during holidays they offer special pre-fix dinners that are reasonably priced and well prepared. Again, if you want a night out at a special place that is beautifully appointed than make the Bistro Garden your destination.
This restaurant is one of my wife and I's favorite. We have been coming here for almost 10 years and we have never had a bad experience. the ambiance is great, the food is deliscous, and really not as expensive as a lot of other restaurants. We have always had great service, and this is the place I proposed to my wife, so it holds special meaning to us. I highly reccommend it to anyone, and their chocolate sufflet is the best!!
The drinks are not cheap ($9 for a glass of cabarnet) but the main courses are reasonable ($20-$30) for such a fine dining experience. Service is outstanding and the ambiance is high class all the way. Don't show up too underdressed or you will look a bit out of place. Really a great dining experience and well worth it. I would recommend it highly for those who prefer dining in style. Oh, and by the way, the herb chicken is delicious!
One of the best restaurant experiences of my long life. I am a vegetarian and the food for me was delicious. Music beautiful, lighting superb, service excellent and dingin design elegant. I have told everyone to go there for absolute enjoyment.
