Carney's, Studio City

Back when I was a meat eater I loved to eat the burgers and dogs at Carney's. I now settle for the vegetarian sandwich. It's delicious. My oldest daughter said her New York dog was the best she's ever had and others must agree with her as Carney's received Best Hot Dog in Los Angeles by some committee in 2004. Plus, the restaurant is an old train car. By the way, the Carney's on Sunset Blvd. serves beer!

I went to school just around the corner, and used to come by all the time as a kid. Now, 15+ years later (having lived in 3 other cities in the interim), I'm still looking for a burger place that is as good. The double chili cheese burger (with a side of chili cheese fries) are decadently amazing. Tommy's comes pretty close, but Carney's (as well as the location on the Sunset Strip) is still the best.
