Zankou Chicken, Van Nuys

Thinking i want to enjoy something fresh after reading the reviews and as soon as i stepped in the two ladies at the counter took our order with a grumpy face. The treatment was horrible maybe they did not like my face. Our order of beef shawarma and chicken was ready in a minute beef was dry and cold.I felt they wanted to do away with the drying outer layer of beef and we were perfect victims.In a customer oriented society I was treated like dirt. We did not enjoy my perfect noon was ruined. My husband and me have vowed never to return to be discriminated again.

Yummy! This place is a great little stop if you want some good food.

Zankou is a fast food place that could just as well be on the streets of Beirut. They don't do it your way, they do it their way. Their way is authentic Lebanese with absolutely no compromises for American tastes. The food here is spicy, juicy and simply wonderful. You want real fries instead of pink-colored turnips shaped liked fries, tough. Grilled onions instead of raw red onions that set your teeth on edge, tough again! The beef and chicken are fresh off the spit and just heavenly. The garlic sauce (you have to ask for it) will knock the average Californian into orbit. If you're freshly arrived from the Midwest, you may go into shock from sensory overload. The decor is leftover 50's coffee shop, the place is populated by characters who look and sound like Russian Mafia, but none of that matters, because the food is so incredibly good.

Fast, cheap, and outta control chicken that'll make your eyes roll back in your sockets and curl your toes, and a garlic sauce that'll play havoc with your breath, but it's so worth it.

Why i love this place so much i can't figure it out it's one of the best places ive been too maybe cause i work there but even before that i was always at zangou its the best chicken in the world you could never get enough of it i never get a chance to tell you guys what a great job your doing and what a pleasure it is to work with such great people.I hope you don't mind that im writing just want to let you know zangou is the best and wish you the best stay number 1 forever!
