The food is good, but not really much different than any good Chinese place. However, it costs considerably more.
The wine is rediculously expensive. I come from a family of winos and while we don't mind paying for wine out, it gets to the point of rediculous when a glass of familiar wine is $2.00 more expensive than a whole bottle costs at Gelsons. We ate, drank water and went home.
I went to PF Changs on New Year's Day! And I was not at all impressed. The only thing of any value was the drinks. They do make really good drinks. The food was okay, but I prefer my step mom's dumplings any day. The service was awful! It may have been New Year's Day but it wasn't busy. It took forever for someone to take our order. We kept seeing the waiters and the waitresses walk by, but they wouldn't even make eye contact. And by the time we got some service we almost walked out, but the fact they have cute waiters kept us there to order. We get our appetizer and drinks, finish them, and then it's like where is our check? We waited a long time and then when we got our bill it was wrong. We asked for separate checks and the total was combined. How hard is this? The place itself is beautiful and has a romantic feel, but all that can easily fly out the door when the service is poor. I hope I'm not the only one in Thousand Oaks that recieved such bad service.
I enjoyed the seating, the way the place looked, and the service. I think the orange chicken I ordered is done differently than I am used to, and was not expecting nor enjoying the flavor of it. I think had I ordered something different, I might have liked the food more.
PF Chang's is my favorite place for a dinner out. I have recommended it to ALL my friends. There is almost always a wait, but it's well worth it! I would advise going after 9pm if you can. It will still be busy, and it's usually noisy- but the wait won't be as long.
My favorite dishes there are the Pin Rice Soup (very spicy) the Wok Seared Lamb, and the Honey Shrimp. Try the ribs for an appetizer- either style are great!
Sure its more expensive than Happy Panda...but at least you don't have to sit and ponder whether the meat in your chow mein is actually chicken...their Great Wall of China Chocolate Cake is awesome!!! Love everything about this place
