Have been there a couple of times in the past few months and both times the service was terrible! Both times we had to wait quite some time before receiving our food. The first time the waiter actually left (or possibly was fired) in the middle of our service, and we were twice brought a check with mistakes. The last time we were there the waiter forgot to bring our soup, and then the charge was on our check when we received it. He also failed to refill my water when I clearly indicated that I wanted some more. We also noticed that there were fewer customers in the restaurant than when we had eaten there in the past even though it was during the noon rush hour. We won't be returning.
Had dinner last Sunday. Service was terrible. We had to go and get a waiter for us, and the family sitting next was waiting longer than we were waiting. The food was salty and dry. Obviously, its management doesn't seem to take time to train their people about customer service. We were NOT happy with this restaurant, and we are NOT going back.
Still one of the better places to eat in Thousand Oaks/Westlake area. Not to mention their ahi poke tuna is probably the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve had it at too many places to count).
While it’s general theme is a brewhouse that serves food and thus not an overtly fancy restaurant, they still manages to create a good balance of good food and atmosphere without being pretentious.
You could go there dressed up or dressed down and you wouldn’t feel out of place. Not many placed can say that. The service however, can be a hit or miss. Probably my only complaint.
I had dinner at this restaurant on Friday night with 2 other couples (6 people total). After being seated, we sat there for 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging us when finally the waiter informed us he did not know this was his table and would take our drink orders. Over the next 2 1/2 hours, we had to get up 3 times to find the waiter to get something he forgot and after all of this, our last hour we just sat there without drinks (that we had ordered and were charged for) and we never did get our bill. We finally moved to the bar where the waiter told us how great he was at service and the waitress in the bar was rude. A Total joke of an evening. I'll NEVER be back.
I was having dinner with friends last night and a frantic lady came up to us saying she saw a rat and she thought it had run up my husbands arm. It had not, thank goodness, BUT - we did see a rather large rat run up the blinds inside and all around the window area. People who were sitting on that side of the restaurant all got out of their chairs and were standing around in shock. The manager and a bus boy chased after the rat, but at NO POINT did anyone apologise to anyone. I WILL NEVER eat at that rat infested dirty place again. Good luck if you want to brave the wilds of BJ's!!! There is just not enough beer for that adventure!
I just had lunch at BJ's with 4 friends. As I was lifting my glass to take a drink the BOTTOM broke apart and spilled ice water all over the table, seating area, and my lap. Unexpectedly shocked, I shrieked. Then came the realization my clothing (and I) was soaked in icy water. As we moved to another table (at our insistence) a bus boy offered me a towel ,the waitress said she was sorry, and lunch was summarily served as I sat in cold , wet pants and shirt.
At NO TIME did the manager approach us offering apologies or anything else for the unfortunate, embarrassing incident. He chose not to even acknowledge it by avoiding our table and area for the duration of the meal. This was NOT a pleasant dining experience!
I will not to return to BJ's and urge others who consider customer service to be an important ,integral part of a good restaurant to do likewise. The (in)action of the manager was beyond disappointing. There are many good restaurants where concern for the diner is important and BJ's is not one of them.
The Food is AMAZING. but it isn't worth the service. we waited over an hour to get in, and our pager went off a couple times only to be told that they weren't ready to seat us. when we finally got seated our waiter took at least 10 min to acknowledge us. He talked to us as if we were in the ghetto. And the tattoo on his chest just made me loose my appetite! yuck. I guess he went on break because we ended up with a new waiter. I figured I should as about our appetizer because most likely Tattoo man didn't tell him we had one on order. and sure enough he didn't so our appetizer came with our food. We didn't get any refills which sucks when you are eating a big main course. After dinner we order pazookies (which are amazing) after 15 min of waiting for the pazookies i decided to speak with the manager. However, he was pretty occupied hanging out with his buddies at the bar, but i did catch him on the way to the Bathroom and I told him that we were very disappointed with our whole experience. He comped our Dessert, which was nice. but some preventative maintenance would have been better. I DO NOT recommend dining in at this BJs.
Well, I don't know what everyone else is talking about, because I go to BJ's all the time with friends and there's never a problem. The food and service is great and of course their pizookies are AMAZING!!!
