Bear Pit Bar-B-Que Restaurant, Mission Hills

This place goes down in history for me. Been going to this spot since I was a kid. Lovely spot to have a great meal with family members.

I will never go to the bear pit again. My family has been going to the resturant since the 1950's. Today June 6 2011, we were ask to leave because my grandaughter who has autism was crying. She was not loud but the customer behind us compliant. My daughter told the manager that she had autism and was hungry. She told us to leave and made the statement that my child has autism and he does not act like this. My grandaughter was just crying because she was hungry. He did not even ask us if we wanted to move. He insist that we leave. I have heard other kid cry louder then my grandaughter. My grandaughter is handicaped and they refuse to serve us. This is wrong. Any parent with a child with autism should not go to this resturant because they will kick you OUT because of your autism child.

Ate there yesterday and had the spareribs and chicken meal. Was not impressed with either. Both were very dry and were not seasoned well. My husband had the babyback and those were a bit better but nothing to write home about. I'm from KC myself so I do know a little about barbecue. For the best KC bbq try the Kansas City Barbecue joint on Magnolia Avenue in North Hollywood. The ribs and chicken from this place have never failed me! Next time I go to the Bear Pit, I will try the sandwiches. That may be the way to go. THe bread was very good.

I ate at The Bear Pit today. I had the Rib Sandwich. The Ribs were the Worst I have tasted at any restaurant in recent memory. They had no taste what so ever and the sauce was just as discusting. I don't understand how anyone can give this place a rating better than an F. I can't understand how this place stays in business. It is truly dreadful.

This is not a place to take your first date to however the ribs with garlic bread are to die for =)

Eating Bear Pit is like getting blown by a black hole filled with vasoline!

This place has my favorite sandwich ever! The BBQ Beef Sandwich on Garlic Toast. It still blows my mind every time I get it.

it was my first time eating at this restaurant. The food was nasty, the service was poor. I will never eat there again!!! Chris n pitts is soooo much better!!!

The food was terrible. the Q was not cooked. I almost puked, Never again.

Great B B Q. Their beans are excellent. Great food for the price.
