Lamplighter Restaurant, Chatsworth

I use to be a regular customer at Lamplighter eating and drinking in the bar area approximately 4 times a week, spending 900.00 or more usually more there per week. It was a convenient location and had exceptional customer service in the bar area. I avoided the dining area because of the lack of good customer service with the exception of server Arlene and I found it non relaxing and extremely rude being surrounded by all the spanish gibber going on between the staff including the managers. After years of going to the bar area the management began to change it and unfortunately not for the better, getting new staff who lacked customer service. Speaking spanish with people when you have non spanish speaking people sitting there is very rude. One would put his feet (dirty shoes) up on the counter next to the glasses, I felt one was over charging and pocketing the money, one would cough and sneeze without covering his mouth and the list goes on. I mean come on, if just the basic courteous common sense is lacking how are they hired to perform customer service duties and represent your company? They did bring in a bar manager named David almost 2 years ago who actually did have a clue on how to run a bar, he made a few positive changes and everyone was excited that the bar area was a great place to go and then he was fired. I have since found a new place to spend my money, the owner, the management and the service treat me and all the customers with welcoming, courteous and professional behaviors.

I love this place! This place has got more of a johnny rocket kind of feel, meaning its decorated like your in the 70s and 80s. Not exactly the kind of restaurant my friends and I go to at night but for lunch and breakfast it definitely is BETTER than any breakfast competitor. I love there filling breakfasts for under 6 dollars and if you get there before 11am they have a couple of great breakfast under 9 dollars including their famous 7 oz Chicken Fried Steak and 3 egg Ham Omelette!!!! I have had their eggs benedict before as well and it is really good, considering it is only 9 dollars as well which is the best priced eggs benedict I have ever had. Additionally, they have a FULL BAR available early so it is perfect after that late Friday and Saturday night for a Bloody Mary to fix the hang over. We had a young waitress on Saturday who was around our age so she understood how our previous night had been and hooked it up with the perfect Bloody Mary. Great service by the waitress and not too long of a wait. For lunch I love the Hot Turkey Sandwich or the Tuna melt which are both good. the best part about their locations is that Giamela's Lamplighter offers great Submarine Sandwiches that is more for your buck as compared to the Subway and Quiznos. Over all their prices are more than completely reasonable and their food is delicious. The place has a great atmosphere and has plenty of parking with usually no waiting time to sit down at a booth. I HATE places like IHOP and MIMIS where the wait is more than 30 minutes to just get seated!!! I urge everyone to try this great coffee shop!!!!! ... even for us younger adults!

the roasted chicken is to die for, excellent, it does take about 15min, because is fresh, but the wait is worth it, and the subs from the Giamelas menu, very nice, the steak and cheese, wonderful, very please with the food. give it a try you'll like it.

They have karaoke in the lounge area. The karaoke was great! The restaurant's policy SUCKED! Two of my friends ordered coffee and asked for a refill. Thereafer, the waitress kept refilling their cups. We thought nothing of it until they receievd a $25 bill for the coffee. It was at that time the waitress informed them that there are no refills during karaoke. I have nothing against charging a two drink minimum during karaoke but it was despicable that the waitress said absolutely nothing about charging for each refill prior to their receiving the bill. The manager was sought and finally, after much argument, gave them a small discount but admonished them because they had been there before and knew the rules. Wrong! They had only been there once before and ordered soda, for which they paid the two drink minimum. If my friends had been informed of the restaurant's policy, they would have been able to make an informed decision as to how many cups of coffee they chose to drink. Instead, nothing was said and a $25 coffee bill was dropped in their lap at the end of the night. My friends and I have decided not to return to the Lamplighter.
