Sisters' Southern Kitchen (Les)
If you love soul food and you like your southern dishes cooked right, you've got to stop in Les Sisters' Southern Kitchen. You'll find such tasty entrees as Smothered Pork Chops, Jambalaya and Hush Puppies. The Barbecued Ribs and the El Paso meatloaf are other favorites. The delicious Buttermilk Pie on the menu can't even be found anywhere else in this part of the country. Alcohol is not served here.
it is a small but friendly and popular restuarant. the food is really good and cooked to order so it is fresh. the buttermilk pie is something i never had before until going to les sisters and it is the best desert. the prices are reasonable also.
My wife and i visited this restaurant after reading many good reviews. We loved it! The food was great. Do not be deceived by the interior downplay. The food tasted homemade and fresh. For an appetizer, we had hot fresh hush pups(crispy balls of corn meal) that came with a side of dipping honey. I suggest to anyone, definitely get their lemonade as a beverage. It is fresh squeezed and ice cold. For main course, we decided on creole shrimp and chicken jambulaya. Both were delicious. You MUST try the buttermilk pie. If you do not have room, they serve alot of food on your plate, take it home. We'll be going back for sure!
My husband and I finally made it out to Les Sisters. It's a drive for us (because we live in Glendale - about 30-40 minutes), but it was worth it! We had lunch and the inside of the restaurant doesn't look like much, the food is wonderful! I lived in Florida for years and miss yummy comfort food.
I had the fried chicken and it was delicious. Fried chicken is one of my favorite foods so it's usually the first thing I try when I go to a southern/cajon/creole restaurant. It was crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. My husband had the hotlinks and they were even better than the fried chicken. Everything was fabulous!
The prices were so reasonable for lunch. My chicken was $6 and the hotlinks were too I think. We finished off with a piece of sweet potato pie which was very good. The only thing they need is sweet tea!! :-)
I love going back to visit my family in MS. I love cat fish, sweet tea, hush puppies...well you get the picture. I found this wonderful spot on line and found out my hubbie has known about it for years and has been going to lunch there. Well I forgave him and adore it. There is nothing fancy about it. Would you rather have good food or pretty paint on the walls? Sorry but I love food & adore this restaurant. On a scale for southern cooking 1-5 stars I give it ********************************************************! Does that say it?
Hole in the wall in the West Valley with great food at good prices. Good gumbo and jambalaya. Righteous sized portions! Fresh brewed ice tea and fresh squeezed lemonade in BIG bottomless mason jars. Friendly service. Small and usually crowded but worth the wait!!!
