Saddle Peak Lodge
Saddle Peak Lodge, where rustic ambiance meets a sophisticated palate. The former hunting lodge maintains a warm and rustic decor, features two fireplaces, outdoor dining, and views from the second- and third-floor rooms. Chef Christopher Kufek prepares contemporary American comfort food with an emphasis on hearty wild game, fish, seasonal ingredients, and local produce and welcomes you to try the 5- or 8-course Chef's Tasting menus. To complement the food, the wine list focuses on American boutique wines difficult to find on many other lists. Our bartenders prepare classic and old-fashioned cocktails as well as modern versions of the classics. We invite you to come to our wine and scotch dinners and beer luncheons, which have received rave reviews. Whether you are a meat eater, fish lover, beer drinker, wine aficionado or a Scotch enthusiast, Saddle Peak Lodge is just minutes away, but a world apart.
My Wife and I had dinner their last night for the very first time and most likely the last. The ambience and decor was what we expected, pretty cool. The food was just ok. Nothing to brag about. We both had the Trio Sampler. A thumbsize sample of Buffalo, Elk and Squab. After 2 cocktails, Dinner and desert, our bill came up to $175.00. Not worth it. One visit is enough. More of an older Dick Chaney crowd. They all seem so pleased to be there. I heard one lady mentioned that she's been coming here for steaks for the last 50 years. I told her she needs to get out more, ever heard of Ruth Chris?
Suggestion: Be sure to grab a bite to eat before you go.
I could not disagree more with the two reviews below. I ate at Saddle Peak in October 2007 and it was one of the best restaurant experiences I and my guest have ever had. The food was literally perfect (my first taste of big game and of pumpkin-parmesean soup YUM!) and the service was attentive and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was warm and romantic. We can't wait to go back!
This is the most amazing location and atmosphere for any special occasion or romantic dinner. My husband & I have been going there for years. But the last couple of times we were there it just was not up to par. We spent Thanksgiving 2007 there in hopes of a wonderful meal and spent well over 400.00 for 3 people. The food was horrible, soup almost cold, service was lacking they had 1 waiter for the whole upstairs for the night. They have a new chef, and he does not belong here. I don't mind the slightly unusual if it tastes good. but this was a huge dissapointment.

Nestled in the semi-isolated hills of Calabasas, this place is certainly the best restaurant, possibly across the nation, for superbly prepared wild game. Elk is a stand-out favorite. This is an excellent place for special occassions. If you need a romantic hunting lodge for that perfect date, this is the place! Just be prepared throw down two or three benjamins.
Set in the hills of Calabasas, this is THE place to go if you are feeling like something very meaty. The scallops appetizer is delicious as is the buffalo and venison. Sit on the patio or inside by the fireplace. Definitely not for vegetarians.
