The Madison Restaurant & Bar
Description
From the moment you pass through the soaring columns into the reception area at The Madison, you realize you are about to partake in a dining experience that is not easily matched for elegance and style. Located inside one of Californiaac2s architectural marvels, The Madison is a tribute to the majestic interiors of an ageless, grander America.
Go there for drinks, they have the largest selection of single malts, bourbons, and cognac in the area. Cool bartenders and cocktail servers. I used to know the old bartenders and miss them
I have to say the interior of the building is absolutly beautiful! but beyond that...not much more.
The service was not welcoming AT ALL. The food was rather dissapointing for the price. I had the veal and it had to be one of the worst meals. On my way out a gentelmen who introduced himself as the owner seemed snobby and over bearing as he fonded over me and made a dramatic effort of kissing my hand. It made my date and I feel extremely uncomfortable!
I must agree with the last two reviewers. I thought the restaurant was beautiful but I am not eating wood panels, although my steak could be compared to one. I thought the service and the attitude was terrible and I shall not patronize this place again. The area is Pine Street and I do not recommend walking around there at night. Do yourself a favor and find another spot to dine. It was not good and the service was terrible and it was very overpriced for what you go but then again, attitude comes with your meal for free!
Sorry I thought this place was lovely but the food and service was not. It is very overpriced and the service is totally inattentive and I do not like to be ignored at these prices. Attitude is something a waiter should not serve. I will not go here again for any reason, I am very disappointed and will still go their other restaurants, but NEVER here again! You take you life into your hands in this downtown area as well.
WE TRAVEL ON BUSINESS QUITE A BIT AND EAT AT A VARIETY OF RESTAURANTS. THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE WORST AND OVERATED RESTAURANTS WE HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF EXPERIENCING. IT LOOKS VERY INVITING FROM THE OUTSIDE BUT BEWARE!!!!!!! THE SERVICE IS SNOBBY AND THE FOOD IS WORSE. THE STEAK WAS LIKE CARDBOARD AND THE FISH WAS DRY AND TASTELESS. WE ARE EASY TO PLEASE BUT THIS WAS DEPLORABLE. JIM 12/07/07
Unquestionably, the most beautiful restaurant in Long Beach. Too bad its kitchen is too small for the restaurant, and its service is often very inattentive.
I first when to The Madison when I was the Head Concierge at the Westin Hotel in Long Beach. Every morsel of food there is heavenly. The service impeccable. When you walk in you half expect to see Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra having a drink at the bar, And Rosemary Clooney or Judy Garland singing. I have had the pleasure of dining at The Madison on many occasions. Everyone should experience this restaurant that calls out to you from days gones by.
Valet service Nice ! very nice entrance and we ha a reservation and were seated right away. The place was absolutley beautiful.
The waiter was excellent. My husband had the muscate and i had an expresso martina. The first one was good the second one lact the flavor of expresso. The bread was wonderful along with the madison mashed potatoe's ( a little cooled off, wished they were warmer)
My husband had the alaskan king salmon which had little taste (needed more seasoning)he gave it a 5 from 1-10... I am a great sea bass lover so i ordered the wild striped bass, first i asked where it came from and the waiter said alaska...i didnt want it from mexico... so i tried it..It was on the level of a 3 from 1-10. I know good fish and this wasnt it...the mango salsa was...what...i was not happy and my husband had to listen to me saying how it wasnt worth it...and when i found out my expresso martina was $15 dollars i was complaining the whole time how we should have stayed home...that was a $9 dollar drink...no wonder the place has ery few people there...
i expected so much more than what we had... we will not go there again...
From the grand entrance, to the stunning bar, to the delicious food and the wonderful service, this is one of the most magnificent restaurants I've ever been to.
