Delius Restaurant, Signal Hill

Might be the best place pn earth, but I wouldn't know. We never get much time to prepare for dinner alone together, but had been wanting to try this restaurant. We showed up, asked how long it would take us to seat us, they said fifteen minutes. An hour and a half later, we left, having noticed the same five or six tables in the middle remaining empty. We watched another family leaving, furious at the service once they did get seated and decided it wasn't worth the wait. Too bad, guys, considering your proximity and the type of food you serve, we would have probably been regulars.

NOT CLOSED !!!!!! One of the Southland's finest eating establishments. Very expensive and the food is exquisite. Stop by and say hello to Dave and Louise.

Delius's is my favorite place to visit. The food is out of this world. The new restaurant is so beautiful you never want to leave. Delius is a must stop while in the Long Beach CA. area.

They moved to: 2951 Cherry Ave Signal Hill CA 90755 Just south of Cherry and Spring Just as good as when the 2 old ladies owned it. The Solzman's have improved it over the years with more choices on how to dine.

This place is not closed. It opened in July of 2007! The food is out of this world! The ambiance is modern and clean. The staff is friendly and exceptional. Try their 7 course Prix Fixe dinners and their 10 course Wine Cellar dinners. They change their Prix Fixe menus every 3 weeks. Exceptional place to impress. One of my favorite places to eat.

Delius had been displaying a banner recently: Happy Hour 4-7 p.m., always in search of new and better Happy Hours in Long Beach, my co-workers and I were ready for something new! We settled into the bar area and ordered 6 different appetizers from the Happy Hour menu, and one (Satay) from the dinner menu. Spicy quesadilla – the quesadilla itself was nice, but the salsa was dry and unappealing. Mini Sliders – poor presentation as the little burgers couldn’t stay together since the meat was more meatball than patty. Spring Rolls : bland without enough textural contrast and a strange runny pink sauce. Potato Chips : Nicely done with a little salt and a little sugar – upscale bar food – yum! Beef Satay : this was a kabob, not a satay – and while the beef was tender and very delicious, we had been looking forward to satay-style beef with more Thai seasonings. As for value, while the mixed drinks were generous, the $9.50 glass of wine, like the appetizers, was over-priced. While a very pretty place, there are no acoustics to speak of, and the service was horrendous - we actually had to wave down someone for service (the table next to us let out a little cheer since they had been abandoned as well) – and still had to bring our check to the bar to wrap things up! There was certainly enough staff meandering about, but since they weren’t assigned to the bar area they skillfully ignored us (literally!). Perhaps dinners are Delius specialty, in which case they shouldn’t bother to advertise a Happy Hour.

The hubby and I just had our 15th anniversary dinner at the new location on Cherry. They have a new walk-in service area and the meal was wonderful. I had a bacon wrapped, blue cheese stuffed chicken breast that was wonderful and the hubby had a special for the evening which was a pettit filet with poached lobster. The new place is modern so don't look for all of the odd chairs from the old wine bar. I peeked into the prix fixe area and it is smaller but very intimate.
