I use to dine at the Fish Tale back in the early through mid 1990s when it was on the corner of Britton and Bellflower. Back then the food was excellent. However the service could vary greatly depending on the time of day and day of the week. Some of the best service was during the weekly lunch period in the bar. This was provided by the lady that normally worked that shift. Sometimes there would be a tall skinny red headed bartender (I think her name was Candy or something odd like that)who provided the worst service that I/we had ever had at any restaurant. She had a mouth on her worse than a sailor. Even then the food was excellent. My favorite was the shrimp scampi. After not dining there for many years I returned about a year ago to dine again. This time the service was marginal and the quality of the food had really gone down hill. What ever you were doing back from 1988-1995 please bring it back.

My husband and I were quite disappointed with our dinner. Our dishes were bland and very expensive for the quantity of food that we received.

Just Average

The Fish Tale is said to be one of the best seafood restaurants in this area. We've been there maybe half a dozen times, the food and the service were both just average. We've tried the Shrimp Scampi, Filet of Sole, Pacific Red Snapper and the Sea Bass. Maybe we need to try different dishes because the Shrimp was bland and the fish dishes were overcooked.

I have no opinion of this place

Was there once, was asked to leave. Never went back, don't plan to. However, it is nicely located with good parking. What ever happen to Hody's drive in?

i LOVE fishtale

the waitresses were beautiful, the food was superb, and everything was just perfect. Anyone can enjoy it. Their is a kids menu and it gets really busy on the weekend nights so make sure that you come early because they dont take reservations except for large parties, which you can arrange. But overall its a very great restaurant. I've never had any problems.

Every couple of years I decide to give The Fish Tale another try, and I'm always reminded why I rarely eat there. The service is substandard, the food quality is marginal but always overpriced. A better choice would be Jimmy's Fish House or The Fish Company.
