Phil Trani's, Long Beach

Unbelievable, really. I went out to try a new restaurant with my wife. We got there and ordered a filet mignon and linguini and clams. First off, we got our salad and soup. As we ate half of the salad we noticed something on the lettuce. Looking closely, It was a DEAD FLY!!!! When the waitress (Shelly) brought our filet and linguine, we pointed out to the waitress (Shelly) what we saw. She said it was too dark and had to go in the back to see it. We took a taste of the linguine. OMG, I have never tasted anything this salty. I thought I was eating saltwater. Now, the audacity of this waitress. She brings back the piece of lettuce and says she doesn t think its a fly. I had to point out the wings and THEN she acknowledged it. She had the nerve to way that there are gnats and flies in the kitchen and that they wash their salad, but those things can land in your food and its not a big deal. WHAT!!!! so you mean when I eat food at your restaurant I can, by chance, eat some bugs??? I told her that I could be sick, but she says in a negative tone , you re can t get sick from gnats in your food. Not once was there an apology, only her rationalization of bugs being present everywhere. Give me a break. Really, she couldn t even apologize or even say sorry for there being a bug in my salad. We left and asked the front hostess if we could speak to the manager. The hostess explains that she is new and even she apologizes for the mishap. The front hostess looks and returns saying that there is no manager here tonight. Really, no one is in charge on a Saturday night?? Whatever, I get the name of the managers, either Amber or Ashley. I hope you read this POOR REVIEW!!! Rest assured We will NOT be coming back to this establishment, especially with such poor service from your servers and horrible food.

where can one go and have the owner/chef personally cook something special for a customer? The food has been fantastic, the service impeccible,and the meal itself an experience worth repeating many times over. I have ordered a steak and Phil himself has come out and told me he had a much better cut of meat, then served it to me at the lower price of the one I origanally ordered. This resturant I give FIVE STARS! RVJ

But the service people can make it. Have you ever paid for terrible service and food which is underdone? You should try famous Fettuccini Alfredo plate. It was just boiled macaroni. I don't know what Italian chefs will accept a new style Fettuccini Alfredo. if you would type Fettuccini Alfredo in the internet I am sure that you will get the right ingredients for the sauce. The test, for sure, will be totally different. Thanks

If you like red booths, steaks, martinis and sports, you'll love this local hang out for sports writers and sports nuts. The owner, Phil, is a great guy and does the cooking most of time. Fun and reasonable prices. Try the sand dabs, their my favorite. Also linquini w/clams is my wifes favorite.

I eat here several times a year with my family, and everything I have tried has always been just delicous! I love the herbed Chiliean Sea Bass, yum. The calamari as an appetizer is traditional coated and fried, but it is so tender. The restaurant itself is older and established, not sheek-definitly has been around for a while but when the food is always good who cares. They also have a bar/lounge area that has great entertainment on the weekends. I think it is always the same band, lead woman singer with a back up jazz/blues cover kind of vibe. Old timers dance the night away, but there is a mix of all people.
