A restaurant serving the best steak with a variety of good quality beer is El Dorado Restaurant. The place has cozy and comfortable interiors and comprises a huge dance floor. There is also a stage for the artists and the bands to perform. Hosting primarily jazz events, El Dorado is one of the few most popular entertainment destinations in the city. Call for reservations.
My husband & I live in the neighborhood and stopped for a drink. We noted mainly young people, but a few seniors also. In came an elderly couple-around 75-80 years old--They got up to dance--the young people started to laugh, but stopped quickly--They were professional dancers! They had the floor to themselves and when the song was over--People applauded loudly--The band said it wasn't for them-it was for the dancers. It made for a wonderful evening--seeing young and old together and admiring each other! Mix it up--be European!
We live in the neighborhood and actually liked it better when the older people were there. It had more flavor. My one suggestion would be to appeal to the neighbors in the immediate neighborhood and bring back the old people - they were part of the entertainment!!
We've dropped into this bar/lounge to listen to the GREAT Blues being played on regular basis. There is a small dance floor, bar stools, some booths, all wrapped around a nice place. The bartender has been there forever and runs the place like he just got hired. Friendly, efficient, happy, and engaging. You won't be disappointed. The crowd on Blues night is a mixed bag. Old, young, and everything in between.
Good food and service. Sat. night is dancing compliments of a one man band. Come hungry and ready to shake a leg. Martini are good, just make sure glass is chilled. This throw back is complete with senior dancing to swing after dark. This place will is all about the atmosphere and liveliness.....try it.
Continental cuisine best describes the fare served at the El Dorado, but don't look for many European dishes. There are nightly specials usually offering a beef and seafood choice; the chateaubriand is excellent. Avoid the Italian dressing as it's mainly oil, but do try the soup of the day which has always been good and is usually a bit different (e.g., cream of cilantro).
The restaurant is adjoined to a bar/lounge singer and small dance area where Oscar the one man band sings everything from songs you can tango, swing or waltz to or more modern songs like Britney Spears. He'll also perform line dance songs if enough people coax him!
The owners make you feel at home, are sure to come introduce themselves while you eat and offer one of the desserts homemade by their daughter (try the Chocolate Surprise).
