I had waited 31 years to try my first In-N-Out Burger, and this was the closest location to my hotel. It was worth the five-mile bus ride to try. The burger was great...you can taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients. If I were trying this for the first time 10 years ago, even 2 or 3 years ago, I'd have said it was the best burger I'd ever had. I was anticipating being blown away...while the burger was awesome I have to admit that I prefer Five Guys'.
The fries on the other hand, were dry, brittle, and tasteless. They cut them fresh, so it can't be the potatoes. Has to be the oil they were cooked in.
The vanilla shake I picked up for the bus ride back, however, was wonderful. Very thick, very tasty. Bottom line is, you HAVE to try In-N-Out if you're visiting California!
In-N-Out burger is the kind of phenomenon that all restaurant owners wish would happen to theirs. It is everything you could expect from a fast-food diner and with a quality and service that I haven't seen in years. Friendly, helpful and lightnening quick service was a treat to behold. Value, don't get me started. And yes, I hadn't eaten for about 7 hrs when I stopped in, so maybe things tasted better than they should have, but still, this is a restaurant worth driving out of the way for.
