Truly outstanding, authentic Mexican food, prepared perfectly. If I am anywhere close to the area, Maria's is the only place I will eat. If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and try it once--you will be pleased.
Maria's is Excellente. Their Carnitas are among the best around. Get them extra crispy and you'll be in heaven. Friendly service is a staple there but don't expect to get in and out quick. They tend to take their time. Catering food for parties is great too.
By far one of the best places to eat in the south bay! The food is great and the service is awesome! The owner is usually there and will even take your order at times.Ever since they added raspberry ice tea to there drink list I cant stop going All i have to say is that the carne asada burrito, Tastes so good it makes you want to slap your mama!
I've been dining at this restaurant for a few years now. The service has not always been that great, but lately it has gotten worse. I was there last night with my family and after ordering our meals, it took about 25 minutes for them to bring the salad, (which was a cup of lettuce with dressing on top) and then literally 30 seconds after the waitress brought the salad, she brought the entrees (in 3 trips mind you - for a family of four). It seemed like we were there forever. I was speaking with a friend about my experience last night and she replied that she also stopped going there many months ago for the same reason....poor service. She said that it was not the kind of restaurant where you can go in, order in a timely fashion, dine, pay and get out. She said any time she went there it was at least 2 hours before she could get out the door. The food is actually ok, hit and miss, depending on when you go, but the service is always less than average.
I really enjoy visiting Maria's Restaurant. My family has been there twice, the first on a recommendation from my mother. The combo platters are and portions are reasonable. I've tried the chicken enchiladas, tamales, and shredded beef tacos the times I've visited. My husband is a fan of wet burritos, so he recommends Maria's version 100%.
More importantly, the food tasted fresh and distinguishes itself from other Mexican versions I've tried. Put is this way... I tend to measure Mexican food according to my mother's home cooking and Maria's is quite similar to the real deal, if not completely. The sauces they use are not pasty and their tortilla chips are hot and light crunching. The rice is soft and fluffy.
The servers were very gracious with my little son and always refilled our drinks in the nick of time. They were really helpful and offer high chairs for the toddlers. The ambiance is very family oriented and cozy. It has two entrances and is in a good location too... Osh is across the street and other marketplaces are nearby, making Maria's a great place to eat before hitting the shops at Del Amo or elsewhere. A big plus is their fried ice cream! This is delicious and if you like bunuelos, you will surely enjoy this cinnamon and coconut treat. It is a good size and my husband, son, and I shared it to finish our meal.
