We have been customers since 1991, the food is always prepared fresh, and the sauces are homemade. It is a family business and they do the cooking! The tamales are my favorite and my family loves the Flan that the father cooks. Also the prices are reasonable for a family restaurant of this caliber. The drinks are very good, not watered down or short on alcohol! We recommend it to everyone. Very neighborhood orientated.
The food is great, love it. However, they dont have a great attitude and don't know how to take care of their regular customers. The refill on the chips is offensive and they need to reevaluate their lunch prices.
I have been here a few times over the years. Average has always been my experience. Until the last time I went. It was horiable! Took forever to get even a drink order. THe father taking our order was rude. Seemed like he could hardly understand any english. Our order was wrong. The ground beef tacos are digusting. The enchiladas are very good. As is the salsa. But the small bowl of chips they give you is offensive. And getting a refill of the chips is a challenge. The nice people at the table next to us gave us theirs. (they got two bowls for 2 people, and we got one bowl for 4 people)..................We sat with empty beers and waters for over 15 minutes. And had to ask for more. Then when we got the bill it was like WHOA!!! what the heck happened? Would have been a lot cheaper to do El Torrito or even Don Joses. Food was not at all worth the prices. I will not returen here ever again.
My favorite Mexican Restaurant.. Family owned and run and you are always treated well. Everything is great, but my favorites are the chicken crispy Tacos and the Caldo de Pollo. The Salsa is great too. If you are having a party the 6 foot burrito is great.. You get rice, beans, salad, chips, and salsa. It feeds a lot more than it says..Everyone who I have brought there loves it too.
El Zarape is the BEST Mexican restaurant locally. The Carnitas is one of my favorites...the pork is always moist and tender with a great taste. I always try to taste something different on the menu because EVERYTHING is awesome. Their homemade salsa is one of the best I've had. The restaurant is small, seat yourself, with very friendly family always there! LOVE IT...and we don't go anywhere else now!
