Locanda Del Lago, Santa Monica

We've been there for at least ten times. Always good and friendly service. Last time we asked for a special dish we knew from Italy that was not on the menu. The waiter asked the Chef and he immediatly agreed to prepare it for us. It was delicious and they charged a reasonably price. Great place if you don't show up with Boxer shorts, muscle shirt and Flip Flops. They don't really appreciate that.

I went here for my friend’s birthday. We enjoy eating out at fancy restaurants, especially Italian/Seafood restaurants. So naturally when I found this Locanda Del Lagoon on this website I became excited and planed an evening around eating here and hanging out on/around the pier. However this restaurant nearly completely ruined our night. First, the service was atrocious. Not because it was slow or incompetent rather because the staffs’ rudeness. They all sounded French and treated you as if you were not good enough for them and you should not be dinning at their restaurant. Second, the food was not very good. I’ll admit it wasn’t horrible, I’ve defiantly had worse, but for the amount they were charging I would hope that it would be better then simply not horrible. It wasn’t. Thirdly the music was lame, sounded like an Abercrombie store. The inside was, admittedly, rather nice. Ultimately however, I would give the service a D- and the food a C. I will NEVER go back here and highly recommend others be as weary.

Wonderful. Great food from an Italian restaurant where the food is actually authentic and truly delicious. It is very popular.

I absolutly adore Locanda Del Lago, it's beautifully set in Italian decore. If you would like to get away from your normal dining escapades I recomend this darling corner stop. Davide Vedovelli is an excuisite chef.

Great Italian food!! In the daytime it can be bright and cheery while at night it can be romantic.

I'm usually not picky about restaurants and don't typically write online reviews, but our experience was so bad that I feel compelled to warn others. My wife and I were traveling in the L.A. area for our anniversary and decided to try this place after reading the menu outside. We were promptly seated, but it went downhill from there. One of the menu items advertised on the outside menu was not listed on the menu presented to us at the table, which was a big reason for selecting this place. Slow service. Waiter did not communicate very well. Rushed us through the orders, forgot part of the order. Overall the food was marginal for the price. I am sure that there are much better places in the area in this price range. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a decent meal. I've had better food and service at chain resturants.

All of my experiences at Locanda have been optimal. One of my favorite things about this place is that I can walk in without a reservation and be seated within fifteen minutes; or I can be served a meal at the bar. The food is fab! The price is fair & the ambiance reminds me of being on holiday.

Foods is very good,very good recepies from Italy, a Italian Chef that is very important for italian restaurant, service good and friendly, and exellent location.

We three rather adventurous but picky gourmets had a delightful lunch at Lago. The antipasto buffet will filled with delightful suprises (although the Fritata and the Caprese should have been room temp as they both lose their flavor when cold.) The Butternut Risotto w/Scallops was perfectly prepared as was the deliciously light mushroom ravioli. Our server as a delightful young lady who was both knowledgeable about the food and wines, and enthusiastic about Lago. A terrific dining experience we'd like to repeat soon. A new favorite restaurant for my friends and me.

It's inexplicable and I have yet to duplicate the effect in my own kitchen. It is rich and delightful. I've tried the basic bolognese at local eateries (Rosti, Fritto Misto, etc) but haven't found one that beats Lago's
