Fine ingredients, classic atmosphere, excellent service and a great wine list make this my current favorite Italian restaurant in all of LA. The chef scours the local farmer's markets for the freshest seasonal foods and creates his weekely and daily menus accordingly. Bravo!
Even though the food was pretty good, we had some blips with the service - our waitress was uninterested, and she brought out a wrong dish and didnt offer to fix it.
The pastas are the highlight here, and one would be well-served to order only those. The pappardelle alla bolognese were a standout; other pasta dishes, e.g. one with sausage, were not as good.
We didnt have a reservation, so we were seated near the kitchen door, which was less than ideal.
The fresh meats, which Rocca highlights as a special, were forgettable. I had the distinct impression that the plate of prosciutto we ordered had been simply pulled out of the fridge (pre-sliced) rather than sliced fresh, which, for the price we paid, I would have expected.
