Description

The Galley place is proud to be the oldest restaurant and bar in Santa Monica. Its loyal clientele ensures that it should hold on to that title for quite some time. The dark, New England seafaring motif may make you think you've landed on Cape Cod. Favorite dishes are the famous steamed clams in a bucket, seafood pasta, salads and the jumbo porterhouse steak served on a a plank. A bottle of wine here is reasonable and there is a full bar as well. Call ahead for hours.

Good good stuff. Stiff drinks, which you'll need because it takes a long time to sit and the bar gets crowded. The steaks are very good and affordable. You also get a nice choice of sauces. I'd like to see a few more side dishes and appetizers (the calamari is great, though).

This has got to be the best kept secret around. I don't know why there aren't 50 reviews on here, but The Galley is by far my favorite restaurant. The atmosphere is awesome and the food is to die for. My FAVORITE is the Steamed Littleneck Clams....the House salad is a must and the clam chowder is the best around! I own a restaurant, so I know what good food is, and let me tell you, the Galley is a great find. Go...you'll love it, I promise!

It floats our boat!!!

The Galley has got to be the best chop and steak house that still is fun to go to. The atmosphere is great: a sort of 1940's dive bar with a tropical nautical theme. The food is fantastic! Oh, those steaks!! The seafood!!!!And don't forget to order the house salad with the house dressing. Yummy!! The drinks are tall, and the wait for food short. Get a booth in the main dining area for some terrific 'people watching' or get a booth elsewhere in the other 2 rooms for a romantic dining experience. They also have a small outdoor patio for dining under the stars. Go. You'll thank me you did.
