Enterprise Fish Co - Santa Monica
Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat. Also just a few blocks from the waterfront, our sister restaurant in Santa Barbara operates in a century-old brick building originally home to an industrial linen service for seaside hotels. While the Douglas fir floors, soaring ceilings, and glassed cupola have always been features of this historic structure, the sweeping arches facing State Street were added after much of the building crumbled during the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake.
I went to this restaurant with my children on a sunday, there were at least 7 available tables but the hostess said that we needed to wait at least 25 minutes. When we asked why, she said that they didn t have enough waiters...
Anyway, we waited and got a table but then we had to wait at least 15 minutes for someone to help us. The service was so bad that I had to get up from my table twice to get what I needed but this is not the worst part.
I paid $65 dollars for the food which I found extremely expensive, I mean fried fish fillets for $19 dollars for my kid??? But now, I am checking my bank statement and somehow these people managed to charge me with $87!!!
I will call them to see what happened but I don t expect much from them. Don t go here, it s a waste of money and you won t have a good time.
I ordered Cioppino which is listed under the House SPECIALTIES...Well they better find a new chef. Portions of seafood was a complete joke... one shrimp one scallop and the smallest King Crab leg I have ever seen. When I brought it to the attention of the waiter he said well you should have told me at the start I will tell the kitchen and offered me a dessert. I took that as an insult. He went on to say that we are not busy so I do not know why that happened. He told me he only had it once. I would have expected him to tell management to at least come talk to me. I did not want a dessert on the house I wanted to have the proper amount of seafood that should be in the dish. I have had Cioppino many times and the portion is always a meal that takes a while to enjoy in consume. It took all of 8 mins to eat. The only good thing about the dish was the flavor of the sauce. Kudos for that but not enough to make up for the lack of seafood which makes the dish. Find another place to dine. 03-26-09

I'ev eaten here many times but on this night after 8pm
the staff seemed in a hurry to leave. The waitress informed us from the start she was due on stage at an open mic night. She left us half way thru the meal which was so slow to come and mixed up- the salad and fries came after the main course!? We told our new waiter our problems and said it would reflect the tip. I tried emailing the managers address on the bill and it was returned undeliverable. Bad experience for such a nice place. Beware.
The fish was excellent and we appreciated the friendliness of the waitress.
The fish was excellent but one of the backed potatos was burned and the sauce acquired the same taste.
I would go there again despite the burned potato!
While on vacation the Enterprise fish company was reccomended as a place for great seafood. We went for the famous lobster night, unfortunately by 8pm, they were already out of lobster. We also noticed that everyone working there was angry and unhappy. Perhaps it was because the managers had no problem yelling and screaming at the employees, who all looked like they wanted to run and hide. For some reason our drinks took 20 minutes , maybe they are understaffed. We will never go there again.
