This is just one of those amazing places where you can get what you pay for and more. They have so many tasty sandwiches in here that are perfect for lunch.

I love this place because of their amazing sandwiches. The service staff is so friendly too, I always feel like I am family whenever I am here. Great place to buy your lunch from.

The Godmother with the works is one of the best sandwiches I have ever met. Sometimes I order it with extra hard salami for an extra treat. I have also tried the hot sandwiches, but defer to the Godmother. You can also get good cheese and beer here. They have a full cheese counter.

The Godfather makes it all the while.

I've been going since I was in diapers, and even though I don't live in Santa Monica anymore, I always make it a must-visit when I'm in the area. They've got the best Italian subs you will ever eat outside of Italy itself....lots of other great treats, too!

This place is the BEST. Amazing sandwiches, great hot dishes (try the meatballs & chicken canneloni). The key to the place is its bread -- you can get loaves of it just out of the oven and they use it for their sandwiches - including the famed godmother. At lunchtime it is best to fax your order in and then go pick-up, if not you're stuck in line for about an hour. Good cheeses, olive oil and wine - great place to stock up for a party.

Me and my friends have been looking for an italian grocery store. It was the closest we could find .. and our first time there. They have such nice peolpe there, one of the butchers thought my baby girl was so cute that he gave her a freshly baked bread. kinda funny. The place was so busy.. and they have so many things, It seemed better than the one i use to go to when i lived in San Diego. This is my favorite store from now on.. i'll be traveling there just for my italian food needs.

OK, so it is not the least expensive place in town, but oh is it worth it!! Yes, yes, yes!!! Fantastic deli sandwiches. My fav is the Goodmother -- loaded. Great place to people watch. I have been there when Cher was sitting at the next table (about 5 years ago). Last time I went, there were some 'Hollywood' types, but now that I am 'old' I don't recognize who the celebs are anymore. Everyone seems beautiful in Santa Monica.

These are the best sandwiches you can find in Los Angeles. Amazing bread and high quality meats are just the tip of the iceberg. The Godmother sandwich is at the height of my sandwich eating experiences. I just laugh whenever I pass by a Subway or a Quiznos now. Spend the extra time to get to Bay Cities Deli. Comparing it to almost any other sandwich shop I can think of is like comparing a frozen beef patty to a gourmet prime rib, but both at the same price. One of L.A.'s greatest finds.

Need I say more? YUMMMM This is the best italian sandwich I have EVER had... little trick: the line can be brutal on the weekends. They usually have pre-prepared sandwiches at the front next to the register. If you are in a hurry, grab and go.
