Melisse, Santa Monica

So I ate at Melisse about, 2 months ago and it was fantastic! On Wednesday there is a deal going on on Preferdine.com ($50 for $100 at Malisse) that I’m really excited for – I love a good deal at a restaurant that I had a good experience with.

As a chef its great to see the new wave of gastronomy on display. An amazing journey through Taste, Texture & Temperature. The composition of some of the dishes looks immense..the presentation looks clean and spot on...i can't wait to experience the tasting menu when i come in August. I gave them my credit card number because this dinner was a gift for 2 friends of mine. They took 704$ instead of 600$ as I told on the form. They refuse to refund the difference and I've asked to my legal protection to help me Take care when it's time to pay !

Great time, Great service,wine great, Food was way over priced, very LA...Chef was very obnoxious to his staff, you could hear him yelling and cussing at his staff, the dinning room is very intimate, you could hear him outside I'm sure.We spent at least $1,000 for 4 of us... Give that man his Prozac...

Melisse is possibly the best dining experience in Los Angeles. Nothing is rushed, nothing is pushed. Courses are served in due time and expect a long and lovely meal. This is fine dining at it's greatest.Head Chef and owner Josiah Citrin is world renowned for good reason. ANd the catering/party department is wonderful.

We loved the Melisse in Santa Monica, CA. Delicious food...even the vegeterian was so happy!! The service was perfect. We still talk about it with wonderful memories-always at the Melisse. Thank you all for the great service and delicious food! It was a real joy to eat there.

I don't think I've ever had a better meal. The food was exquisite, the service impeccable. As a vegetarian (read: fussy eater) I have rarely had a more interesting menu on offer. Each dish is explained in detail as it arrives. The presentation is perfect. The 'tasting menus' offer samples of the entire menu at around $80 per person. The 'carte blanche' menu at $140 gives the chef free reign to create whatever he likes for you over nine courses and three to four hours. The one downside: the dishes were typically served a little on the cold side. Call me old-fashioned, but I still think hot meals should be served hot. One other point to note, diners tend to dress up. For a Northern Californian beach bum like me, LA suit-wearing is still a bit of a surprise.

I've been here twice and both times have had very nice meals. It's the kind of place however that you always feel like you flat out overspent for what you get. I recommend it as long as someone else is picking up the bill - like mom and dad.

We recently had our wedding reception at Melisse and had the Garden Room to ourselves. It was such a wonderful experience - the food was amazing (the 4 course tasting menu is to die for), the service was top notch, and we plan on going back time and time again.
