Ivy at the Shore
The Ivy's tropical counterpart, Ivy at the Shore, offers the same delicious food plus icy island drinks, a 12-seat bamboo bar and beaut surfside view. Don't miss the sunset over the Pacific with a Fresh Pineapple Daiquiri or two.
We used to love Ivy at the Shore and would meet our friends for dinner there all the time. Since renovating and expanding the restaurant a lot has changed. Ivy at the Shore is no longer a quaint little hip happening great food place. Met friend for dinner there tonight as we were both celebrating birthdays. They first tried to put us in the worst possible table for two, inches away on either side from tables for four. When we asked for a different table we were told that there was nothing else available. Mind you there were tables for four everywhere still open. We finally complained to the mgr on duty citing that we were frequest guests, etc. Within 5 minutes he found a lovely little table that was still on top of the 'neighbors' but not in the middle of the aisle.
Service mediocre at best. Definitely not what it used to be. No charm, no personality, nothing. They want you in and out and quickly. Had my favorite Enchillada dish which was so average it was painful to pay the check. We each had one glass of wine, Enchillada entre' and split a desert. With tip the bill came to $70.00 EACH. **Let me just say that if the service was**exceptional, if the food was wonderful, we would not have blinked an eye at the $140.00 dinner tab.
AVOID. There are many other wonderful restaurants in the Santa Monica area without the arrogance, poor service and poor food. Skip it !
Our service was good. However, it took a long time for us to get the check and we ended up leaving much later than planned.
The food was delicious and the ambiance was nice. We sat in the patio area in the front.
Brooke Shields came in with her husband and kids on the same day.
The service at the Ivy does not match the price you pay. While the food was excellent, the service by the staff was poor and inattentive. Although we had a reservation, we got led to the two worst tables in the house (the first was inches from the door, the second was on the rear patio with the roof panel open on a rainy and cold night.) During dinner, nobody stopped by to see if we needed anything until we were done with our meal.
