Few days ago my friends and I had lunch at Belacan Grill. I must say it was THE BEST lunch I had in a while. It was so good that we couldn't stop bragging about it and I can't wait to go back soon. I live in Long Beach, but it's totally worth the drive. I ordered steamed whole tilapia in a soy - ginger sauce (yummy!!!) and my friends ordered Kung pao chicken and Nasi Lemak and they absolutely loved it too!! The restaurant is very nice and clean and the owners are super sweet people. Will be back soon!!!

I love this place! I'm an American who used to live in Malaysia (favorite place I've ever lived!) and miss the food like you wouldn't believe! Belacan Grill is by far the best and most authentic Malay food I've had outside Malaysia. The Nasi Lemak is great as is the Beef Rendang. The Assam Pedas Shrimp and Crispy Belacan Shrimp are my favorites. Definitely check this place out.

I love this place. I am from Malaysia and use to fly for Malaysia air and since I am so far from home, this place bring me back to my roots. Food is excelent and I wish i lived closer.

We had lunch here the first week of July and thought it was fabulous! The owner and his wife were so kind and personable and the food was fantastic. My husband spent 10 years living in Malaysia as a kid, and he said this was the best Malaysian food he'd had since leaving. So, you can't get more authentic than that. We'll definitely be back.

This place has very spicy and not so authentic malaysian food and might upset your stomachs, so really watch what you order. We went as a big group for lunch and the waitress misplaced our orders and forgot to bring food to two of our friends. The waitress was rude and the owner did'nt really care. I ordered malaysian lamb curry for lunch and the meat was full of fat and watered down. I would recommend yazmin on main st in alhambra for authentic malaysian food.

Simply Amazing

This place is the best Malaysian restaurant I've ever been to in USA. When you walk in you feel like you're in some nice restaurant in KL. The chili crab is to die for!

Okay, I'm a mat salleh, but since I've been to Malaysia 7 times, I feel qualified to comment. This place is even better than a lot of malay food i've had in Malaysia. The chicken satay rivals some of the best places in KL and I'd swear it's even better. The curry puffs are far better than any i've had in KL as well. The curry chicken is super yum and I'm headin back tonight to makan some more... If there's any Malaysians in LA that want to meet up and hang there for lunch or dinner, let me know, i'm there. God knows I need to brush up on my Bahasa lah. :)

Great food, whether you're Malaysian or not!
By ,
I loved the roti canai, the hokkien mee and of course the nasi lamak... the first time I tried belacan kangkung (at another Malaysian restaurant) I wasn't too impressed by it, but now that I've tried it at Belacan Grill I think it's great! It's not exactly a cheap restaurant, but it's well worth it... if you want to try several different dishes your best bet is to show up around lunch time. The portions are smaller and the prices are lower.
